The dry leg method is used in level measurement when an lp or low-pressure leg is vented into the atmosphere. The wet leg method is used when the gas or vapor has a tendency to make condensate. Wet legs are used on differential pressure measurement where both legs are filled with liquid.
in dry leg lp leg is dry and in wet leg both legs are wet.
