Thanks Drew, interesting to see how Halesowen has changed over the years and sad to see what has been lost. Great drone footage.

A lovely video , I've walked that route a couple of times on my way to Halesowen Abbey. If you look in Twiland Wood at the back of Romsley, there's still some of the old railway viaduct there too. There are so many beautiful places off the beaten track that are missed by so many people.

There was a restoration project of part of the canal which led to it being filled as your photos showed. I believe it was pumped almost empty because of concerns that the embankment could not take the weight of the water.
@drewsoutdooradventures012 ай бұрын
Thanks for mentioning that I did watch a old dvd showing cinematics of a pump that was on day and night but further by the embankment

back in the day i had many rides on that railway, i live close to it today ,, The wardens had to remove the last sections of track due to Heath and safety, Thats modern life
@drewsoutdooradventures012 ай бұрын
Bet brought back memories the photos I remember seeing that last bit of track few years ago

that's a shame. i looked on the side by side map and the line of the canal is still all there except for where it joins at selly oak but it could be squeezed in between the factories to make a junction.
@drewsoutdooradventures012 ай бұрын
I'll cover a re updated video of all that section at a later date my mate Adrian has some brilliant photos of the canal area gonna dig more into research into it. Shame the canal has vanished at parts makes me wonder what the condition of the lapal tunnel is underground
@turbostream79252 ай бұрын
Sainsburys were made to leave a space for the canal when they redeveloped the Selly Oak end. There is an undercroft. Drew and I explored this section on an earlier vid and at somepoint we are going back there.

@@turbostream7925 so apart from the tunnel and a road it's all there and moreover it looks as if a lot of it would hold water. yey and i hope it gets done at some point. the birmingham canals don't get enough publicity from vlogging boaters and they seem to worry about vandalism of their boats. i like looking at the urban canals as much as a rural ones because there are the beautiful old industrial buildings and the way of life is more evident.
