@@Ragnarok6664 I mean, the reason they're more restricted is because quite a number of kids didn't make it out of the 80s. We only hear from the ones that did and are like "How am I alive growing up like that"
@danielleaugustine22413 жыл бұрын
For real! I have no idea how we survived the playscapes of our day and even the everyday travel (AKA, riding in the back of pick up trucks with uncles who were either stoned or drunk!). I have to think we had some supernatural Grace on us because statistically, a lot more of us should have died by virtue of how unsafe and ignorant the adults in charge were, lol I do miss merry go rounds and teeter totters still though!!! 😆 There is a female comedian who talks about how those born by 1975-80? were some of the most "un-parented" kids ever... Right before helicopter moms arrived on the scene. 😋 I won't rag on protective parents at all, as l agree there was a butt-ton of neglect in the gen X households, but l do think things went way overboard in compensation to the point kids are even called "free range" when they are simply allowed to ride a bike in their neighborhood unsupervised. Not sure if we will ever reach a balance or recapture the kind of freedom that l grew up with, exploring the woods with cousins and friends and staying out till' street lights came on, but it was a blast listening to this set and being taken back in time for a bit. So good! 😊

Bonus-full of muddy water when it rained!

Plus, remember making it get slipperier by polishing it with wax paper before you went down. And since girls didn't wear slacks in the 50's & 60's you'd end up with hot metal marks on the back of your legs. But you went FAST! Ah, those were the best.
