My sister worked at the Hanford Nuclear Site. You absolutely need your photo ID at all times. They don’t have a place to put them at the gate. You have to take them home. One of the scientists took his home, next morning just grabbed it and drove up to the gate. He didn’t actually GET to work for another couple of hours. His toddler daughter had drawn her version of the Mickey Mouse Universe on the back. He was arrested. Had to be cleared manually, paid a $500 fine, almost went to prison. By ‘almost’ I mean they told him that could happen. He’d worked there for years so he didn’t get the full treatment. Imagine his surprise when he was told it was destruction of federal property and the security clearance was a big deal

A great thing about dry bar is it allows great comedians like this to get an audience. In the past, often it was only the comedians based in New York, Boston and LA that were able to get good sized audiences because the gate keepers of the comedy world were in the comedy clubs in those cities. Two problems with that model where that lots of good and great comedians didn’t get discovered… And also from the 80s until recently…too many comedians tended to be very dirty and overly focused on sex, drinking and drugs. The comedians coming up through dry bar tend to have material that is between much more and far more wholesome. Many times it’s also more interesting because listening to yet another comedian talk about their debauchery gets boring… And it also tends to be more witty because the dry bar comedians can’t use swearing as a crutch to prop up weak material. One thing about many comedians from New York, Boston and LA is they tend to rely way too much on swearing as a crutch to prop up weak material, as Seineld has correctly pointed out many times. Not all comedians from those cities, but a far higher percentage than at dry bar.

I am from southern Indiana too, and this is our type of humor. My father was a grocer and we did business with a wholesaler from Dale. I know some very nice people from that area. Plus, there is an amusement park in the area near Santa Claus, Indiana, that is a great attraction Holiday World and Surfin' Safari. They are nice places.
