Man, I can’t freaking wait for this beast of a game to come out. I am a huge fan of the 1st game and DLC and yes my mystic knight isn’t here which blows but this mystic spear hand looks freaking awesome also. Yes, I’m bummed it’s only uncapped FPS but I bet they’ll come out with a 60 FPS patch and more vocations in DLC because the creator said this is his vision of the 1st game but now he can fully see it realized cause of the current hardware available so I have no doubt more vocations are coming. Oh, I hope this game has all the monsters/bosses from the complete 1st game plus the new ones created.

The Mystic Knight might be in, anyone telling you they have revealed all classes is just laughably wrong. Assassin and Strider probably are out though, because their whole multi weapon gimmick is now owned by Warfarer and a class that used to have two weapons and is confirmed in (magick archer) has now been shown to no longer have two weapons. Magick archer still had a unique weapon though, not like assassin and strider which did not.

@@kenpachi1989Do you really think there is no advanced thief? No advanced archer? No hybrids based on the thief class.... at all? Why does the trickster class icon feature pink and purple colors.... no "revealed" class uses purple or pink. You think only mage gets to pair for hybrid classes with more than 1 class? Use common sense man. It is possible there is no mystic knight, but it is lunacy to think there are only 10 classes. Even dragons dogma 1 had 9 classes and it had fewer base classed than what has been revealed, and no such class as warfarer.

@@DKarkarov Mystic Knight was replaced by Mystic Spearhand. And there are ten vocations, with no plans to add more. The developers have said this over and over. I don't know how many times people need to hear it. A lot of people swore there would be more vocations added in the first game, it never happened, and I will be shocked if it happens in this game.

The strongest were always the ones near Witchwood or the all female bandits in the mountains. Always carried throwblast in the early game just for them.

@@DanielSantana-iv1mf I always ran with a female Arisen and Pawn after the first time I ran into the lady-bandits, haha. Those bandits on the way to Witchwood are the equivalent of wandering toward the Catacombs first in Dark Souls 1. Just walk the wrong direction and start running into skeletons that won't stay dead without Holy damage, rofl. Bandit arrow to the throat and that's that, haha.

Can't really remember name of the set but if your wore that set then no matter how buff and obviously masculine your character was, as long as they had no facial hair you could sneak past them. The ones in the castle anyway.

@@DanielSantana-iv1mf If I recall correctly their leader Orphis will actually consider recruiting you when wearing a dress. It's how I got her sigil for the mission of that other bandit leader Maul. I just love hidden mechanics like that. Another one that blew me away is that you can revive npcs and even enemies, opening up some new storylines in some cases.

I’ve tried to play dragons dogma dark arisen multiple times over the years and was never able to really get into it. All the DD2 news made me want to try the first game again and it has finally clicked with me and I’m having a great time with the first game. Really excited for the second game.

Yea, soon as they created RE eni=gine, and dropped that RE7 demo, they have been completely smashing it over and over with only a few low quality games. Lets hope pragmata will be amazing too. Before that we had all the on disc DLC greed and while they do still have lots of MTX in their games, they are always optional and in most cases the MTX and games go on sale not too long after release. Not to mention they gave free upgrades for the new gen for all the RE games on RE engine.

The first play through will be so organic since it’ll be new to all of us which is what I look forward to the most. Good to see the open world, no handholding play style is carried over from the first DD. And not too concerned w/ things out of our control like fps or additional vocations, esp since the dev’s will most likely address this later on once the game is released.

For me it's the lack of co-op, I just find it adds on another level of entertainment and randomness, they put so much effort into realistic features but lack the one thing that actaully adds to a true sense of a thinking reacting world, it takes a way a sesne of loneliness that no npc can diminish,

Yup. I put 10,000 hours into Dragons Dogma and Dark Arisen. As you really progress through the vocations, the skills you acquire around maxing them out completely change the combat. The combat was so good in DD that I just kept playing it. I don't suspect this game will be different. It's also made with NG+ as a core mechanic. Core to the gameplay and story. A lot of the design choices that seemed problematic in the first game were made specifically for NG+. You earn being OP, you earn fast travel and you feel it.

My only prob is the campsite mechanic, not being able to set it up anywhere in the wild, withing space and terrain application, but requiring specific spots found is just bs with the travel system as is, map size, and the brutality of night combat. A map highlight left when found at least? Who knows huh.

DD1 did have fast travel, but it was limited to specific locations (some of which you could create) and the ferry stones needed were 1 time use only. DD1:DA added a stone with unlimited use. They claim 1 doesn't have fasttravel, but it does and so will 2.

My theory for Dragonplague is that it is something that can be contracted by your pawn being dominated by a drake/dragon, and then it spreads to other pawns when they are recruited by other players throught he rift. And when enough pawns are infected, something will happen "globally" (to every player with infected pawn). Possibly related to the appearance of the Talos?

There are only four armor slots in this game: head, top body, lower body and cape. Gloves are integrated to top body. Boots are integrated to lower body. I can't understand this logic that simplified systems brings more diversity.

The Pawns can, they can learn the Elven language and you can make them Elvish with the options for Human pawns. The gear changes hopefully won't be as detrimental to the "Fashion's Dogma" end-game as we're anticipating. I know it can't be as versatile as previous games with less sections of the character to tweak, but here's hoping it isn't too rough.

The equipment system in the last game was one of the worst parts. Particularly the UI, sorting thru armors, trying to figure out what's what and compare stats was a nightmare.

And Denuvo! Don't forget about Denuvo. Pawns did have permadeath in the first game too, btw. Not your main one, but the others did. Death was quite annoying because of that reason. One encounter with Death meant having to go find new pawns.

What the director said about the underclothing being gone. I think he meant that they could implement more varried armor sets. because they didn't need to focus on matching the underclothing and armor for every possible combination. Basically reducing time needed to make more armor sets in the process, making more of them. Hence why he said there'll be more options.

the presence of a single save slot is not antiquated so much as it is a choice. Even the first Legend of Zelda (one of the first to have battery back up and therefore saves) had three save slots.

I was originally going to make a the tallest fattest dumbest 2hand sword wielding oaf I could possibly make on my first character, but the fact that you can kinda be a Jack-of-all-trades, and that your height, weight, limb length etc. affects your stats, I kinda just feel like if I don't pick the default average height and weight I may regret my time on the game. I imagine it's not "extreme" but if I want to be gigantic, won't that be bad for playing Rogue? If I'm tiny, won't that just feel bad for being able to carry loot? Honestly, I'm torn.

No need to be torn. This is where your pawn comes in. Give them the attributes your character lacks so they compliment your playstyle. I played DD1 as big oaf fighter too and I designed my pawn to support that. A small mage for healing and buffs. Besides if 2 is anything like 1 it'll have massive replayability, so you don't have to get it right the first time.

@@YourLocalCopiumDealer Yeah will probably do multiple playthroughs over the years to scratch that itch, but from what I've heard there's no reason not to be a Jack-of-all-trades really, you can level every class in one playthrough and apparently the stats of one role don't affect the others the way it did in the first game. That's kinda why I want to go more of a generic build on my first guy so I can play a Mage one day then a Fighter the next, Archer the next, etc. until I've played them all. Hell... I might even want to level up a Trickster if it's fun enough. So yeah my original plan of having to pick a specific role and stick to it, I think I'll scrap that idea and play everything. I think I'll make my main pawn a giant lumbering oaf instead and keep him as the tank and pack mule lol, then the other two pawns I will try to work around what I'm currently playing as.

Because the player character has access to classess the pawns doesn't, I kept changing mine to test them all and became a Jack-of-all-trades by accident. Eventually I focussed on making my main pawn a healer that could work with any other class and combo of party. To add to your good idea, I think I'll go for a healing pack mule. XD

the game's director said that the single save slot is to "encourage exploration", something that can't be done with multi-save freedom that allows one to save-scum in exploration or story beats. you can still go back to previous inns or last resting points to prevent hard locks.

Anyone find out the level cap? Is it 200 again? At 200 the game became fairly easy in comparison to someone who was under lvl 100 for example. Also with the one save slot thing, you can actually change how your character and pawn looks in the game at any time (admittedly only with an item that comes with the deluxe edition or bought seperately with real cash), but it kind of makes the multiple characters thing irrelevant as if its like the 1st game, the item was not a one use thing, and could be used infinitely.

Ps5 version of DD2 has quick access to healing items,stamina items and the inventory menu (theres a 4th thing but i forgot what it was),ive seen an image of the layout ingame by using L1+ any of the 4 dpad buttons,so its safe to assume the xbox and pc (thats a given) versions will have that,unlike the first game that apparently only has hotkeys on pc and on the ps4(and maybe xbox one?) port,but not on the original release of xbox360 and ps3,as an extra not so fun fact,the pc version of DD:DA lacks this functionality if you play it with a controller,forcing you to either reach out for your keyboard or do some steam big picture juggling.

The first game did very little handholding and a lot of mechanics weren't even explained. You had to figure it out yourself. From crossdressing to fool female bandits to reviving dead npcs to unlock new storylines, DD1 had a lot of surprises so I expect good things from 2. Haven't been this excited for a new game in ages.

Something I noticed from all of the trailers and previews is that each vocation seems to have gear very much tailored to it. Meaning that each vocation is visibly different than the next. Like I can tell an archer and thief apart in the trailers not only by their weapons, but what they're wearing as well. I really like this idea if none of the vocations share gear in favor of vocation specific appearances.

Hotkeyed items were absolutely a thing in DDDA (And DDON, for that matter), the "Assign Hotkey" prompt at the bottom is on like... "Y"/"Triangle" I think? I've got a Beastren Arisen and an Elven Pawn at the moment for my first run... unless I make some other characters that I like more, rofl. I'm hoping the reduction in unique gear cosmetics to work on will actually end up with having more "usable" fashion gear, at least with the crafting/upgrading system on top of it. Oh, also, the pawns could potentially learn instead to rush in and engage enemies to keep them off you instead of learning to retreat with you if you pull back to ranged attacking. Or if you rush in, they might retreat to cover you with ranged attacks or switch to focusing on aerial targets to keep them off you. Who knows?! I'm super curious how all the pawn interactions will work out. We're almost there, friends. The wind is pushing us!

i mean it's like 5 seconds or so, the only time i can see this really being a problem, outside super claustrophobic caves where takes up half the or more of area, is if dragonkin still have that roar that instantly knocks out all 3 pawns if they are in a very wide radius of it. lmao um magick archer's not a godly damage dealer in it's niche like it was in dd1? we'll see. they not only kept ricochet hunter but gave it a machinegun mode. sure, higher recoil but that practically means nothing when aiming for the sealing was the best way to use it in single target situations. assassin's stuff will likely mostly be split amongst archer and thief. they've said repeatedly that there are 10 vocations. with feedback they may add more, in the dark arisen equivilent dlc, but we don't know that for sure. i doubt they know that at this moment. for equipment, that footage shows that gloves are gone and 1 ring is gone too. along with the under layer shirt and pants, that's losing 3 slots total. going from 9 to 6. this is a bit sad. they said they wanted to avoid the meta monkey suit situation that dd1 had, that is a good idea but this was sort of a lazy way to do. making sure that fewer slots meant fewer combinations to look through and test. the problem was that they messed up and made 1 combination too good, it being miles ahead of everything else so why bother using other stuff? this won't change a thing if they mess it up again. if they do mess it up, it will prove our point that amount of options isn't the problem. just don't make some geer that's always best in slot. if you are stuck on a quest, like you don't know where to go, you can go to the rift and filter for pawns that have knowledge ot the quest that's currently active. it's completely optional, you can ignore them or picks pawns that know nothing of a quest if you want to figure it out yourself. the beauty of this is it's up to you. if your pawns can't help you, hire differnet ones. you'll want to do that often regularly anyway, with how their snapshot mechanic works. if you hire a pawn they will stay the same as long as you keep them, apart from thing you teach tactics or monaster knowledge. if you retire them and rehire them later they may have entirely different equipment, a new vocations, other skills, and/or more knowledge from their plaeyr's game also from otehrs that recruited them.

Fun fact: there was a hot key system in DD:DA. It was just that you had to customize it yourself and the game never tells you it's there. So the vast majority of people always missed it lol Tbh, it wasn't the best, it didn't auto switch to the next best healing item after the one you had ran out. So hopefully that will be an improvement 🙏🏻

I am betting that Dragonsplague will simply have to do with resistance to being manipulated likely by a dragon. In the first game, dragons could manipulate party members; this could be tough to deal with if you have a strong party. Perhaps these afflicted companions will go berserk in combat, attacking friend and foe alike due to being drunk with power. Maybe incapable of resisting dragon’s influence, meaning they will attack you any time you face a dragon? Funny thing is that it is based on how popular your pawn is. So, people with great pawn creations are screwed.

It looks like each class is represented by one weapon each. This doesn't include the warfare that seems to have two weapons which makes it unique. What interesting thing about the Mystic Knight is that it's enchanted counters seem to be rolled into the fighters moveset. This could mean that previous skills for certain classes are actually hidden inside of the weapon, like the shield for the fighter. Which could also mean that the warfare is going to be a very powerful class not just having access to two classes but potentially up to four different possibilities if you include things from dragon's dogma part 1

We have bindable keys for consumables though in Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen. When you open your inventory and click on a consumable, there's an option to "allocate key" or some sort. Not all consumables can be bound though like those tomes or jewels that conjure magic spells.

yeah its just one of those things that isn't mentioned in game so a lot of players didn't realize you could do it. and IIRC if you're using pad you have to go into big picture and rebind the dpad for it to work as well, which is another layer removed

It’s from DDO. They implemented it there to add some challenge for co-op. Wasn’t that big of a deal and I honestly like the balance better. But I also cheated and played Priest which can make itself immune to a set number of damage. So I would cast my Guard Bit spell and run over and revive folks while the boss tries to smash through my spell. DD2 Mage has the Palladium spell, so you can cast that and run up and raise your pawn.

I wouldn't bet that a main story character can't die, that was entirely possible in the first game. on multiple save slots for different builds, why would you need multiple save slots for different builds? you can change your build at any point on a single character. As I see it they want you to actually get stuck in and experience an adventure rather than save scumming and doing just the start of the game with loads of different characters.

Well it would make sense to have one savefile per character, no save scumming but you can still play different characters (which has its uses, for examples if I wanted to see how the world reacts to different races, or to do a fresh run without deleting a lv 200 uber character). They could have made a limited number of slots to avoid having too many unused pawns around, something like three would have been great. Besides, we can probably still do it by swapping local files, it's just inconvenient for the sake of being inconvenient.

So maybe there more than 1 meister in a certain vocation? So maybe every meister can offer a different special move/skill to your vocation and you can only equip one. With that in mind, maybe we can sort of have those missing vocations like the Ranger, Assassin and the Mystic Knight.

I’m wondering if there might be “Maister Sub-Vocations”. Or the Job Maisters are extremely barebones and really don’t offer anything. I mean, if you have to bond deeply with the Maister to unlock Mystic Knight for Fighter. It’s just weird they mention that you can unlock their vocation, but there’s only 4 vocations that could be unlocked this way - the Arisen vocations (Mystic Spearhand, Magick Archer, Warfarer, and Trickster). And it says OR. So, it doesn’t make sense that your option from the vocation Maister is to either unlock the class or to unlock its master skill…when you don’t even have there class. Which means to me, is there actually sub-vocations then? Or what about Basic/Advanced vocations in which they were already unlocked? There isn’t supposed to be any further vocations to learn?

I'm like 99% sure Dragonsplague is gonna be some kind of "fame" mechanic for Pawns that are exceedingly popular (like a content creator's pawn for example), and they get badass effects for being so popular/good. Eh.. as I typed it out I started to feel less sure about that. But it'd be cool. Could just be something like the helminth cyst in Warframe lol. Some visual affliction but with some stat buffs or something until your Pawn goes rogue attacking you, NPC's cities and all that? Whatever it is, I'm so hyped.

Eh, I'm rarely a fan of having options taken away (Except for difficulty sliders, I don't care if those get taken away) especially when those options are tied to character power and/or fashion. I kid you not, half the fun I had in the original game came from making gear loadouts that were both stylish AND effective. Afterall how your pawn looked affected it's overall rating as much as how well it performed. As for how they 'streamlined' the vocations, I'm trying very hard not to be any shade of upset and hold hope that the combat and skills are deep enough to make up for the fact you are now far less flexible in combat as an agility type. Maybe thief gets a parry ability to make up for the missing assassin class. I'll have to wait to find out. On the other hand it's looking like Warrior FINALLY gets more than three active skills, which was something that frustrated me to no end in the first game.

I recently installed HEN on my PS3, put a 1Tb drive in it and started playing old PS3 games I missed before. Dragons Dogma 1 is one of those and it's really fun. So I'm looking forward to Dragons Dogma 2 for my PS5. Because lets face it - we really need more games engineered for these new consoles and less cross gen games.

24:20 the one save slot is still up in airs for me until i get confirmation from the devs as the character creation demo had 5 save slots for different arisen and pawns so it seems to me that 5 save slots seems to be the limit, but i haven't looked at any recent interviews yet so i might need to double check if itsuno or the dev team had said anything about it yet.

it wasn't 5 save slots. They just let you play around with making up to five saved looks. Tthe devs have already said it's one slot. If a demo comes out with three builds, it's STILL one slot. That's just done so you can play around with more than one setup in the demo.

I really liked the layers of clothing in 1. I had dragonforged my underwear so that I could wear anything over it without losing the buffs. This system gave so much control over the look of your character without sacrificing too much on stats, it was great. I'm very worried that removing this feature is a mistake.

yeah it just isn't outright explained in game so its easy to miss, and IIRC for pad players you had to go into big picture mode and rebind the dpad to 1-4 for it to work properly, which is probably why most players don't remember or know it was a thing

In most games you are the hot shit, or self sufficient lets say. In DD, you have to get rid of the lone wolf mindset as you will have certain weaknesses regardless of your level, which is why a unique system created to complement it called pawns. This is an intentionally frustrating game that really entertains people who have a taste for it and leaves out the less involved players. Which is not necessarily a bad thing i think but certainly niche.

If you really care about fps, then being on console in the first place is a big issue. I'd expect framerates to be somewhat unstable at launch, with some problems in areas with heavy foliage/enemies/allies, but generally ok. This will probably improve over time, with patches and performance updates.

@@FlyingButterHorse Even just from gameplay shown already the FPS tanks and stutters to 25 to even sub 20 FPS. Its to be expected in a game with so many systems, even PC will have issues with high demanding hardware.

@@Stinkyremy Yeah, low-end PCs will definitely struggle, but often PCs have a lot more graphical settings that can be adjusted in-depth, to accommodate for lower-end hardware. Consoles have been improving in terms of settings like this in-game, but I'd say it's still a bit behind. And of course, mods often come out for PC which allow people to decrease quality even further, in exchange for performance (which is also slowly coming to consoles now I suppose).

@@FlyingButterHorse Well the released sys specs from capcom is targeting 30fps on high end PCs as well. DD1 was also heavy intensive again because all of all the systems in place. What I am getting at is dont be expecting some miraculous increase on PC where you are running the game at 200FPS and the poor console players are having to deal with sub30FPS.

I think a big component to how well the point around 11:50 is received depends on how often obvious answers are non-answers. For a concrete example, to exit a mineshaft you can take a ladder, the shaft has 4 or 5 ladders about, only 1 of them can actually be interacted with/climbed, in this case not marking the ladder is a problem, the visual set up of options, routes, or various exit points is a lie for aesthetics. Now lets say a few of them led to a small area where the mineshaft is collapsed, or half covered in rubble, etc. that's a bit different, but main point stands that things need to not cause cognitive dissonance too often. It seems like DD2 shouldn't bee too big of an offender here, but we shall see in a week.

yeah but after awhile as everyone learns the game and the pawns grow the pawns will know everything and could just show you the way... you can have them show you the way and even provide shortcuts with magic or shield toss... (there is even a video where there is a ledge high up that is unreachable by the party but has a ladder on it that can be knocked down so the rest can get up... the mage levitates up there and kicks the ladder down so the rest of the team can get up) so the fact that the ai pawns can learn these shortcuts and paths for quests could help.. at least people who play the game at a later date when pawns have this knowledge.

or two ladders are broken, one ladder leads to loot, one ladder leads to another path. It doesn't need to obviously be the ladder out or they've failed.

Heck in the example of turning a ladder into a bridge, the ladder being too short for that purpose is also fine, but some being functional and others completely not would be an issue.

The save system only makes sense for the fact that they don't want people to save scum, they would rather you just run through the game organically and whatever happens happens. The problem with that is at this point in gaming you should be able to have multiple save slots that can't manually save in that specific run and they should be able to make it so that you can only have one pawn uploaded publically for every gaming profile it really shouldn't be that you can't have a separate mage run along with a warrior run that part makes no sense. And of course the FPS problem thankfully I'll be playing on PC but I feel for the console users if there are obvious problems at launch. These consoles were specifically made to hit the higher frame rates and making that an unknown along with the saves seems aggressively aged in thought process almost like they had the 360 and PS3 in mind the whole dev process... For those who want co-op lol every time there is a companion or another character you can play in a game people want co-op they wanted it in spiderman 2, starfield, hogwarts, jedi: survivor etc.. no people its okay to go on your own adventure hahahaha.

the FPS issue bothers me. PS5 / Xbox Series X are capable of 120hz and we still get 30fps games. 30fps isnt enough anymore. Sony and MS make very powerful consoles and game devs still stuck at 30fps because they either prefer more shiny visuals or suck. i dont buy games with 30fps. i dont want to play games in only 30fps. it sucks.

the "no fast travel" problem for me is going BACK to other places, which you do a LOT in most games, if you already cleared the path, having to walk back is boring.. of course you should not be able to fast travel to somewhere you have never been, and maybe never be able to fast travel everywhere, but certainly a few locations should be possible, i think DD:DA did it right, you can fast travel to 3 or 4 locations all you want.... and gather a few port crystals to add up to 10 total locations. i'm certainly hoping that happens in DD2.. or at least give us the option to fast travel if the path is already clear, or all the enemies are so trivial it'd be boring to just literally kill 4+ of the enemies with one single shot, every 30 seconds heading back... especially after killing over 9000 of them.

I really wanna know about the last class. Because the way it sounds. You might be able to creat some other classes like mastic and archer with the weapon choices from the first game. Cuz it looks like mystic archer wont be using a melee weapon. So i hope that class kinda works where you can more or less creat a class??

kinda, kinda not. Equip 3 of the 9 weapon types, and use 3 skills from other classes only. But, you can swap weapons in battle, and since 'core' skills have been expanded on, you can think of it as a hybrid class. But it's still wayfarer. It's also got less stats than other classes.

Hmmm, do I want to spend $70 to wander around trying to find my objective? I think not! There is a reason why games like ESO4 and Skyrim were so successful. The devs put the player experience above their ego. To think they expect us to have no waypoints, no fast travel, not even horses? That is laziness being billed as unique. Any half completed game can have those limiting features. I don’t want “forced exploration”. Exploration is only fun when it is unforced. I was interested in this game but the lack of features made me decide to keep my money in my pocket.
