One thing to remind people who especially work in a mechanic shop or machine shop working with chemicals. Never wash clothes with chemicals that are highly flammable. Do not put them in the dryer they have petroleum distillates in the clothes and the flames in the dryer heating the drum will ignite. And never attempt to open that dryer door why. Oxygen feeds fire, and by opening up that door it will cause a flashover! Sometimes the dryer will snuff the fire out if not call 911. Or attempt to get a fire extinguisher! Advice from a firefighter!

Some of my work clothes have oil, grease, lubricant, etc. I just cold wash them and hang dry the clothes.

And that's why pockets should be checked, or if that's not the scenario, that's why you don't put things that's been soaked with flammable stuff prior to washing into the dryer. I'm also impressed how long that dryer kept tumbling before coming to a stop when the heat became too much for either the computerized board or the motor itself.

Never put a used fire extinguisher back on its bracket. It needs to be recharged immediately.

They should put staff members in this laundromat because the guys clothes was on fire and the staff members needs to look after the washing machines and dryers and make sure is not on fire and dryer on the FROUNT camera dryer #2 should have a blue tape and the tape should say out of order

I would assume not since there's no flames involved, nor is there a heat grid to short out

Heat pump dryers do not get hot enough to ignite lint during normal operation, but yes they absolutely can cause a fire if something in it shorts out or if you put something flammable in it like oil soaked clothes.

@@averyalexander2303 Those are likely gas units, as are most laundromats I've seen, as natural gas is much cheaper than electric or propane, so the thermostat might have gone bad and the burners overheated the drum, though there is a thermal fuse, but some clothing can catch fire at temps lower than what will melt the thermal fuse

I nearly had the same thing happen to me recently but luckily I called the fire department when I smelled it and heard almost like sizzling and they got it just in time before there were any flames but hell it was close 😰 I must say though I wouldn't have had the guts to open the door like this person did had there been flames like that 🔥😱
