I bought a salvaged gas valve from fleabay for $15 and it worked for me. You may need to remove the original adapter tube that connects the valve assembly to the gas line, with a large Allen wrench (using pipe dope on threading). For fun, I totally took the old valve apart (which was not at all difficult) and cleaned everything including the pistons and sleeves with Q-tips and alcohol. There was black carbon soot inside the sleeves, so one theory could be that it restricted the ability of the solenoid magnets to move the pistons freely. The dryer is working with the salvage part so there's no reason to put the old clean part back in, but it might be worth a try for those on a budget?

I have gone through my Maytag MGDC400VW0 gas dryer and checked the resistance on every component like thermoswitches, thermal fuse, high limit switch, ignitor, flame recognition switch, both coils and every thing that I can find that will cause the dryer to run without heating up. The only item left would be the gas valve itself. I was wondering if there is a test that you can do to determine if the gas valve is not opening or not. It is difficult to test if the coils are energized when I try to run the dryer because it will not operate when I have the cabinet front removed to obtain access to the gas valve, coils, ignitor and fame recognition switch. Mine is not the model that you can access through a small plate removal and your belt and drum stay connected to the tensioner and motor. Is it possible that any of the sensors, etc could show the proper resistance and still not operate when everything is connected and energized ?

Hi Scott! I have a kemore Elite gas dryer, my initial problem was a gas leak from the burner.I took the burner out ,opened it up cleaned it and that problem went away, Now, my thermal fuse situated right over the flame chamber keep getting blown and when I'm dring clothes my gas meter from the basement is making noise like rattling pipenoise. I'm wondering if it has to do withe the valve piston, whether I switched them places. I remember one of them was a bit longer. The other think I can think of is to vaccum the exhaust vent air flow. Please help
