Katherine, I'm so blown away by the art that you do. I have no words! They are that gorgeous. I'm VERY rarely speechless! lol I can do just about any kind of art once I either see it or see how it is done. I'm very thankful to artist's like you and Laura and every great instructor on you tube that teach us. I'm disabled and home bound for the most part. I didn't even know about you tube or fb or anything else on the computer until about 10 yrs ago, when I bought one and taught myself how to use it. Once I found you tube it opened up a whole new world for me and we won't even talk about fb! I've made many friends and reconnected with friends I thought I'd lost through the yrs. Anyway, thank you. I'm going to get started on the geode first and when I have that perfected I am going to do this kind of art. I was a porcelain doll maker for yrs and that hobby was so expensive but I was working then. When I broke my back at age 41, and 3 days after I got back from my honeymoon to my 2nd husband and last one to, I thought my life was over. I was devastated. ART in any form is cathartic, and healing. My sweet husband of 22 yrs (yep he stayed when he could have left and I tried to get him to go but he wouldn't) has gotten a job out of our home state, so we're moving. I'm suppose to be helping the movers pack my craft room up so I can get down there, but I keep watching these video's. He keeps saying, "don't buy one more thing to start anything until you get here" and it goes in one ear and out the other. But I'm going to be good, and stop buying after today. I have to find that Silver Sand Structure Paste for my geodes. You and I have "talked" on here about it. I bought the wrong thing from Laura's store. I'm determined to make some geodes for the kind people who have come to my home to help me get rid of things, and pack it all up. I've been very blessed in my life with the people that have come into it. Anyway, sorry this is SO long. THANK YOU! Thumbs UP!

I had trouble with the Epoxy Sculp getting really sticky and hard to manage. How do I keep it easy to work with?
@DryerDaysArTsTuDiO5 жыл бұрын
Make sure you are mixing it, rolling it around, really doing that for 2-5 minutes. Then let it sit for 5-10 minutes, then it is less sticky and easy to use
@barbarasorrells84745 жыл бұрын
Thanks,I think I did the mixing part right but, I didn't let it rest. Hopefully it will be better next time. You are helping me so much. I greatly appreciate you.

I am in love with your work and had no idea about sculpt its awesome... I do have a question... The first layer is just plain acrylic paint [prepping phase] buy 2nd layer is plain resin or resin with paint depending on effect... So the art resin is different then counter top resin right? How do u mix art resin and the other resin....? Maybe I'm confusing myself
@DryerDaysArTsTuDiO5 жыл бұрын
Yes, the first layer on the board is acrylic paint. the 2nd layer (the resin) I use additives like epoxy pigment paste, mica pigments, glitter and sometimes acrylic paint - but only a tiny bit! Art resin and countertop are different from stone coat. The art resin is UV resistant (to keep colors and artwork looking awesome) and the countertop resin is heat resistant and more durable for the everyday use it will get. They are two-part epoxy resin and are mixed with a 1 to 1 ratio, or equal parts. Every brand is different though, and the manufacturer's instructions need to be followed exactly for best results.

Could a hot glue gun be used instead?
@DryerDaysArTsTuDiO2 жыл бұрын
yes! I use that sometimes, I just prefer the control I get with this and it sticks to the board for me better so resin doesn't seep underneath. But that's just my experience. I do like the glue too

Hi Heidi! I do use the glue gun, you can see me use it in other videos. I made this for people curious about the apoxy boundaries. While I use both, I have to say these lines are much cleaner lines than the hot glue.
