Nice and flat and flush with the wall! Except for the mud taper to cover up the flanges.

What outlet cover plates are you using? the ones I purchase have a larger spacing

If you set the box back, wouldn’t that be against code, since the box should be flush with the drywall. I really like the looks, I just want to make sure that it’ll pass inspection 👍 Please let me know your thoughts about this

If you look, the box isn't set back. It's just that the drywall around it is removed. Take a look at the tabs on the box. They're flush with the stud which is where they should be

That would not be flush with the wall, if you tape and mud over top of the casing.

nothing is flush when you mud it, that's exactly how beads work one side needs to be beveled.
