DRZ400SM Supermoto KTM Headlight Mod Install DIY

I was reading the comments, and I'm amazed how many people misunderstood what he did with the bulb + wiring. He didn't wire up the new KTM light. He simply remove the H4 bulb out of the DRZ light and installed it into the KTM shroud. No wiring needed,, just plug it back into the original harness it was disconnected from.

I bought a new headlight from eBay like u did it looks like and well the main reason was all my stuff around my headlight was all bent from Tammie g a tree and now the rock mount won't work unless I somehow bent it back the right one looks fine but the left one is whack. Idk what to do I think I'm gonna have to take off the whole left side bracket by unscrewing the forks or something crazy and put a new bracket on sadly. Before it was so off line my headlight I needed to get a new one but I didn't think I would need to replace the bracket

Did you run into an issue with the stock bulb melting the housing? I did this mod yesterday and after a short 10 minute test drive mine started melting.

Put in a Cyclops Led, its 500% better and no heat!

I like the DRZ headlight plate better I think it suits the bike more is what it is the KTM on it looks a little weird to me. I agree taking that big brake light off and the turn signals but I like the original light better. The DRZ has really grown on me over the years I appreciate it even more so now that I owned a KTM EXC 500 But that’s a whole new conversation lol

It's all preference my man. Stock DRZ is a fun bike, but definitely is better with changes. The stock headlight just screamed old boxy 90s bike styling to me and I just couldn't do it. My previous bike before this was a Ducati Monster 1100 and going from that sex appeal to the DRZ...things had to change! lmao.

This is Supermotojoe69 That was a good idea I ordered that 6 x 4 LED headlight what they don't tell you is it don't come with hardware and there's no way to mount it in so you got to rig it to make it stay now I have to figure out another way to make a bracket cuz the bracket is on the original headlight and you can't remove it it's a part of the headlight that's my next dilemma I rigged it for now it's in there tight I don't know how long it's going to last

Did you adjust the stock headlight mounts that are attached to the forks?

They rotate back on forth on the forks, so I just pushed them a little inwards to get the headlight to sit where I wanted, far enough back.

How is it holding up so far? Did the light sit a nice level on the road? Im going to be installing mine in the next week and want to make sure its worth it. Looks a ton better and I love the idea of using the stock headlight.

It been working great so far. I've had it in the rain, the dirt, everything and it's good to go. It sits fine on the road and puts out more light, in this housing, even with the stock bulb. I haven't gotten around to ordering an LED H4 bulb for it, but I will shortly.
