I'm a little dissapointed with this track personally. I think his rapping is sweet, the lyrics amazing but I find the beats just the same predictable modern style that is gimmicky and cheap sounding, with those generic snares and over-compressed production. You could take off D'smokes rapping and put it with any other modern rapper and you'd never know.

I have just finished Fedrick Douglass' Story in college, and right after seeing this music video, it's so inspiring and so beautiful. I genuinely believe that black culture is getting out of context by the media. It is great to see an artist like D Smoke to express Black history by showing historical concepts. Unfortunately, we don't see this in our children's school. For him, express it this way can make such a significant impact on our youth.
