It is very stressful as there are some individuals that put people on edge and cause the dsp to take alot of stress home with them.

I wish OPWDD didn’t abuse its workers 😔 Worked the entire pandemic and didn’t receive any bonus pay because I was no longer with the agency, when they decided to pay DSPs. So I risked my life for 2 years and got nothing, while the office folks were safe at home… I braved the supermarkets to feed my guys… I love what I do, but they make it hard…

I have worked for New York State as an LPN/dsp for 9 year, and now they want to have me watch this video to make sure I am competent for my job !!!!! Isn't this quite absurd ?????

Working with individuals with handicaps is very challenging and just because you are a LPN does not give you the knowledge you need to care for these people. Thus the video gives you a little insight.

Ive been a DSP for 18 years and love to get new training - in fact I just completed the NADSP DSP ceritification. There are always new developments and research in the field and this ensures DSPs improve their skillset and provide the highest quality level of support.
