Really shocked alot of people are talking about this. He was acting suspiciously calm at the start and knew to keep a good distance from her to make sure he had enough spacing to avoid the full force of her waterflow. Against all other bosses hed blindly dash towards them and spam jump heavy. Also his rolling was half decent during her waterflow for someone that's never fought her. No way you dodge that many slashes off rip, plus hes admitted to watching other streamers play elden.

It’s amazing how many people thought that he was gonna steam roll her because of how overleveled she is. But Malenia is not a boss you can beat by just being overleveled. His jump attack spam is gonna get him killed by waterfowl dance every time and he will never find a way to dodge that. My guess is that he is gonna re-spec eventually to a bleed build and fully upgrade rivers of blood and cheese her after X number of attempts lol

There are cheese jump builds that counter maleina as well, dual wielding two hammers and spamming jump attack is one of them, won't be long before dsp switches weapons AGAIN for his cheese starts.

Plus, as someone who uses dual colossal greatswords, you still have to know her moveset in order to beat her. I still struggle even though I know how to dodge her waterfowl attack 90% of the time, so I highly doubt that DSP will ever figure that out or bother practicing to do so.

The game has delay on dodging, long input buffers, and locks you into an animation that you can't dodge cancel out of if you naturally turn around 180 while sprinting. The controls are janky.

"She has no stagger!". In my experience she is probably the easiest boss to knock down. Hell, just one Taker's Flame will usually knock her on her ass, but Phil is using his tried and true "jump attack!"... So he is never going to win this fight lol.

Yeah, a good patient player with the Blasphemous Blade can beat her out through attrition spacing out the Takers Flame attacks to create breaks and get big free heals. Phil is just an idiot wondering why he has no stamina after 3 or 4 jump attacks

She has no poise outside of the hyper armour she gets in certain attack animations. Which means that the way to win is to play aggressively (but smart) and try and stunlock her into a couple of attacks when she’s idle. Like whenever Phil hits her with a jumping attack he should follow up with some regular hits because she’ll be staggered. But he’s too used to just using jump attacks which are too slow to stunlock her.

In all fairness this is THE hardest boss in any fromsoft game, hands down, after getting the platinum trophy for every game they put out including OG demons souls and DS2, I can definitely say she is the absolute pinnacle of difficulty. He at least deserves a golf clap for beating her with shitty jump attack and without summoning ashes or anything.

It's crazy how little progress he has made on her. He is so overleveled it takes her 6 hits to kill him. He can just spam roll brainlessly during her waterfowl dance and even though he still gets hit he survives it. The funny thing is that his reactions are so bad that he spaces her out and sees her start the attack and still doesn't dodge the start of it in time and then just gets combo'd to death most of the time despite his massive hp bar. He's also clearly read guides on this shit as usual. He's spacing her out once she gets low enough to start doing waterfowl dance and then waits for her to do a move. This makes ZERO sense to do unless you know how that move works and it goes completely against how he has fought every other boss in the game.

Not really, she would gain a major chunk of her health back. He needs to learn timing and dodging, which he hasn’t bothered to do yet really at all from what I have seen.

My guess is he either levels up more to try and make himself over leveled, or he respecs to a build he reads is best to fight her with or he uses a spirit summons

@@TheRisky9 the move is still fundamentally broken. The invisible cone hitbox underneath her is not present in any other boss, even her other moves lack an invisible wall beneath her. That move is broken in a way that is immersion breaking, game breaking, and ultimately makes the fight bad.

I haven't seen one of these comps in ages. To be completely honest, maybe it's just me, but Phil somehow seems to be more positive than I remember him being. Sure, he's a little whiny, but this is light work in comparison to older stuff I've seen DSP do, and hardly worse than myself when I'm in the privacy of my own home. I don't understand why he keeps jump attacking. You take extra counter damage when you're in the air, you commit to the attack, it takes way too much stamina and the recovery is terrible. He complains about the camera moving around but if he swung on the ground at least his character would adjust their swing to follow the lock on.

Losing 50ish times to Malenia when fighting her blind is pretty average to be fair, especially without using cheese strats or summons. Truth be told I would even consider it a good result, since there’s a lot of players that had their asses handed to them for hours before finally prevailing, myself included

My younger son was ten when he tried Dark Souls 3 for the first time and he beat the first Gundyr with his second try, being only one hit away of beating him on a first try. So even kids learn to play games better than phil. That's hillarious!
