DSS main support system girdle issues on a 351w 408w build

I own the same set up.. also had some of the same issues. plus other ones.. at the time of building the bottom end I never thought of doing videos.. I'm running a canton oil pan and pick up I had to cut off just the end of the mounting hole that goes under the girdle to make a u shape so the pick up tube would slip under along with grinding down the edge of the girdle where the pick up tube rides along the girdle to get the pick up tube fully seated when I tighten up the pick up tube on the oil pump.. I know everything had to be lose to move everything around.. the one main issue I had is when you install the scraper and turn motor over the connecting rods bolts will hit the scraper I had to grind a few spots on the back side of the scraper and use shims under scraper so the rods wouldn't touch.. for the lock nut's I went and picked up some non locking ones to mock it all up before the final install..

yup, it was a pita. i should have also grabbed some non-locking nuts for mock up. woulda saved me from almost toasting the threads a few times. scraper had to be shimmed up by 3 washers i think, but didn't have to grind the scraper any after that. could definetely use some R&D on it.

I have the Heidts front end with a 482FE in a 67 GT500 and I have to use the Canton pan too. It wasn't what I wanted but I had to make it work. Thats what I do.....every day.

made mine work too. just had to modify. just like everything with aftermarket.

overall i think they will be. this DSS one is a nice piece, it just lacks for some applications, like mine for example. being a "universal" piece there's just too many variables i think. wasn't too much of a pita to make it work out. woulda been nice if i didn't have to go through it though. i'd do it again if i had the option though.

@@callofgeorge I already have a windage tray and all the fitment issues on the bottom end already then try to make room for girdle too and if you would need extra bolt lengths etc. Nice looking piece though, hope it works out in the end for you!
