I would hope that Texas has a better DL than or on par with Vandy, Kentucky, Miss St, Mizzou, Arkansas... the SEC doesn't stop at Alabama and UGA.

U obviously haven't watched much SEC football. Kentucky usually has a very good DL. Either way you named mid to low tier SEC teams. U named 5 teams out of 14. He said Texas is a legit 7-8 deep on the DL. Tennessee, for example, has a top-tier SEC DL. They are a legit 12-13 deep. They have 3 guys in the rotation that are at least 320+ lbs. They have multiple 5th-6th year Seniors. They have a top 5 NFL draft prospect, and multiple 5 stars that probably won't see the field. To win the SEC u have to have a top 3 OL & DL. Everyone in the SEC has athletes. The champions usually dominate the trenches, and are very deep.

I named them because they're in the SEC. People have this myth that the bottom and mid tier SEC teams are just so much better than anyone else. They're not. When the SEC top teams at their best, yes they're the best. But the question isn't is Texas on par with the best in the SEC the question was is Texas on par with the whole SEC. Nobody cares about where the teams you have mentioned have prospects projected to go in what round of the NFL because I promise you nobody had Murphy being the first defensive tackle taken and Sweat not too much further behind him even with the off field trouble he had. At some point Longhorn fans gotta stop looking for the boogie man and realize they're just as big and bad as everyone else.

@@Dread-HeadedTexan a run of 13 National Champs built that narrative, not SEC fans. We know Vandy historically sucks. We know SC, Mizzou, Ark, & Miss St have their occasional moments. But you're talking about a full team head to head. They're talking about the DL room. U picked bottom tier SEC teams and one of the teams isn't a bottom tier DL(Kentucky). UGA, Bama, Tennessee, LSU, A&M, Fla, Auburn, Ole Miss, Kentucky are the DL's u have to be on par with. And those top 4 teams have loaded DL's, their biggest problem is they can't play them all.

@@ceejordan9649you're missing my point and one of the first things I said was, when the top of the SEC is good, they're ghe best. Since we're on rankings of units. Texas supposedly has one of the best offensive lines in college. How many times will Texas face the top ranked defensive line in football? Texas has one of the best Qbs returning. How many times will Quinn go against a better qb? Texas has one of the most talented WR corp. How many times will Texas face the top ranked secondary. We get it Texas will win more games 42-28 than it will 20-17. Texas or any other school doesn't need to have the top ranked unit on every level to win a championship. Texas just needs to be better at what they do than the teams they play. Lol Michigan just won a championship with a Pop Warner offense and here we are with supposedly one of the best offensive minds in football and we're worrying about how everyone else looks and what players other teams have.

We have the depth but no war daddy DT. The edge position taking a step and producing that 1st round level player is key this year.

Not having a legit nasty wardaddy over the ball is gonna hurt us no doubt, just hope with fresh rotation that will be minimizeed. The rbs in the sec are on a different level than big 12..

I am curious to see where Aaron Bryant and Jaray Bledsoe fall in this group. I feel that Bledsoe might be behind Collins and Broughton while Bryant is bheind Savea and Lole. So, I would love to see them prove people wrong and have a big year.
@SamuelMiller-qf7qi
@SamuelMiller-qf7qi 10 күн бұрын
I think Bledsoe is a good player and will have a pretty good season and flash legit starter/draftable level player who the next year will start and play very well. I think Bryant will play some this year too and so pretty well and then his redshirt senior year he’ll be a rotation guy with like Alex January who plays ti s pretty high level. I don’t know if Aaron Bryant will ultimately be a guy who gets drafted but I think worst case he’ll be a fringe draft guy who signs as a udfa. He’s 307 on the roster now and I think he’ll play around 312 or so this year and around 315 his senior year snd if he can get ti that size him and Texas will be just fine. Bryant isn’t some war daddy but I think he’s underrated and will be a guy who gets pt and makes plays

It's arguably up to par, but par isn't the goal. The goal is to win conference championships and compete for national championships. Having lost Davis, Texas is probably a blank slate in the rational recruit's eyes. Davis wasn't a recruiting rainmaker, but Baker doesn't have a track record of recruiting *or* developing top talent. Yet.

Unfortunately that's where we are, until we know what we have with Coach Baker, all indications say he's gonna be a great addition, u mean he doesn't have to do much in recruiting to be better than Bo, so I think we'll be fine, just may take a season for Coach Baker to really make his presence known, as a developer and recruiter, but so far the feedback is positive.
@burntorangehorn
@burntorangehorn 11 күн бұрын
@@garysmallwood1527 What indications say he's going to be great? Seems like people are just talking themselves into liking him because he's the guy Sark hired, but almost all of his college coaching experience was at FCS or G5 levels, and his one season in the NFL was as an assistant position coach. If you're a top DL recruit and not a fan of any one school, would you choose to be coached by that guy or someone like Larry Johnson, Freddie Roach, or Todd Bates? NIL helps, but doesn't necessarily win the day when a recruit wants the best chance at developing into an NFL player.

You can’t be better at every position than the other teams. So it’s fine that the dline room is “just” up to par. With Coach Baker we just have to trust Sark. But if you look at what the recruits say about Coach Baker it definitely seems promising. Hook’em 🤘🏼

You got no def line and Manning is not the qb you think he is Texas has gotten it easy in the big 12 but will struggle in the SEC with tuff games every week your lucky not playing Alabama this year. Roll tide!
