DTLRSHP 105 DIY 2020 Ram 1500 automatic Bed Lights for Under $60 without programming

Fairly unedited video, just spliced a bunch of videos that I took along the way. Hopefully this helps someone save some $$$. OEM bed lights cost significantly more, have less output, requires more work than this requires.
DISCLAIMER: I have not verified if this works on trucks that do not have the tow package. If you have the tow harness back there, then you should see the harness with the diagram in front that shows the 12V constant (Shows as "+", which is the red wire, at least on this 2020 Ram 1500.

Wire Taps, heat shrink, wires, wire stripper, wire loom, scissors - at your local hardware store if you don't already have them. = +/ 10-20$ depending on what you have
You will also need a couple drill bits just slightly larger than the wire and screw to get the light bolted onto the plastic cover.

Hi Johnny, what size of wire and wire loom did you use for this project?

Hi Tim, I used 16ga wire with 1/4” wire loom. The draw is very low on the led’s so I wouldn’t be too concerned with wire size. The run is probably only about 5 feet ea side too. It’s just the sizes that I found in the garage

DOESN'T SHOW HOW TO CONNECT THE MAGNETIC SWITCH, i tried various combinations using the same items.....IT DOESNT WORK...

One lead of the magnetic switch will ultimately go to the truck's frame. The other lead of the magnetic switch will go to the negative of the switch / light combo, in this setup. Or, you could put one lead to the hot coming in from the source (switch), and then the other leg would go to the light.

The lights that are on the link are not the same. They are smaller and dont fit in the pre hole on the side of the truck also no room to drill the hole for the button.

Just checked the link and it’s still the same one purchased. You have to offset the light higher or lower to make room for the button either above or below the light.
