25歲那一年，山東姑娘胡順香用自己的全部積蓄，在成都郊外的4A景區里，租下一處占地500平米的院子，一住就是7年。 看到她發在朋友圈裡的美照，大家都無比羨慕，。但她的真實生活卻是：每天雷打不動地畫畫6小時，剩下的時間干雜活，還要盯小偷、修屋頂……住在景區里日子，浪漫又虐心。
At the age of 25, Hu Shunxiang from Shandong spent all her savings renting a 500-m2 yard in a 4A-level scenic area in suburban Chengdu. She has been living there for 7 years. When she posts beautiful pictures on her social media, her friends envy her a lot. In fact, however, she paints for 6 hours every day. For the rest of the time, she does chores, watch out for thieves and fixing her roof. Days in the scenic area are romantic and hard.

Should be from a rich family. I love art too when young. But I became a civil servant coz there were mouths to feed and I needed a fixed salary. I have no regrets. Art is now a hobby. I think I'm a much happier person like that. Being ordinary, not overthinking, and full acceptance of my simple life. I have dreamy, artsy friends who are discontented about their lives, forever posing, soul-searching and experimenting. They are constantly searching for the 'highs' or 'breakthroughs' in life. They ended up missing out on really 'living', and making lousy life choices. Addictions, adultery, mental issues, etc. Our lives are never just about us alone. You need to be responsible for yourself, as well as the others around you as well. Don't forget your parents. They will not be around forever. Go back and visit them.

Thank you for this reminder. I find myself getting caught in that dreamy state, trying so hard to understand life that I forget to actually live it. I've always loved the idea of living away from society. However, life has taught me that it's important to do your duty in this world. I am currently teaching kids art and it has been so inspiring to connect with little ones and become their mentor. I definitely have come to the realization the importance of being responsible of others around me. Rather than thinking too much about what I want, I now think about how can I serve humanity to the best of my ability.

She explore inner psychology with her drawing. Many foreign artists did that but probably not that common in China. The topic is very deep. I like the topic (From death to life and from life to death). Yes, painting and creating is lonely but is required. Not sure she takes the usual route (getting married and having baby). But it is ok if she doesn't. Don't be too bound by social expectation. Time will be wasted.
