Surprised she didn’t mention the Kylie Minogue references. Or maybe she did and Billboard cut it. It was a brilliant homage, and she has cited Kylie as one of her biggest inspirations on many occasions. Maybe it was cut because Kylie’s not a huge name in America? Regardless, I thought the ‘All The Lovers’ and ‘Slow’ tributes were breathtaking.

However I do believe it's more up to the director (Tanu Muiño) to credit her references as this seems to be a pattern: parts of Lil Nas X's video for Montero she directed were a clear copy of FKA Twigs' Cellophane for example. I understand visual culture ultimately is a copy of a copy of a copy but why not credit like for example science is doing when it's this clear?

It depends, all songs she RELEASES, you might argue. I think she said in an interview that she wrote around 80 - 90 songs for this new album. A lot of songs were pretty bad (her words). Writing a great album is a lot of hard work, in Dua's case it seems she has to write around 90 songs for 15 good ones. Not uncommon for songwriters and it sounds a bit like the famous 20-80 rule.

That's so cool! The last time I worked at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington DC some of the participants from Spain did the Catalan Tower that is being described as inspiration for some of this music video. It's truly amazing to see in real life and is quite exciting to witness. It came across quite nicely in the music video.

Why doesn’t she acknowledge that she was clearly inspired by Slow by Kylie Minogue??? She deserves the credit. In the past Dua has said that slow - both the song and video - is her favorite song from Kylie. Dua even chose the exact same location and there are even images that are identical shots, as the one where the swimmer dove into the pool, the overhead shots, even her outfit, etc. Or does Dua wanna pretend that she’s super original and took inspiration from nobody. As much as I'm a huge Kylie Stan, I feel like the Illusion video is much more dynamic... Which makes sense because it's a much more dynamic song, whereas Baillie Walsh did an incredible job of accentuating the very gradual buildup and release that you feel with Slow. The editing and pacing of each video perfectly suit their respective song.
