I finally finished this beauty Sound quality is amazingly sharp and crispy all due to the dampening foam and wooden plinth thickness 😎

Excellent work! I have also improved the plinth. Look for the UK made The Audiofiles RigB for the AT3600/AT91, change out the plastic holder. Then order the elliptical stylus upgrade. The sound can be better than many ridiculously expensive turntable.

Thanks, how would you change out the plastic holder and with what? I have the vm95e a.t. on my systemdek table and it works quite well. Someday i may upgrade the stylist.

That little A.T. cartridge sounds like a five or six hundred dollar cart.

It's really impressive how a £15 cartridge with a conical stylus sounds so good indeed.

Love this. I have an old 505-2 and it sounds so good but it's the ugly plastic version. I would so want a wood surround like yours but have no woodwork skills. Can I easily (and I mean easily) swap out the insides and put them into a 505-3 wooden plinth? Or is one better just getting one made?
@ianunes25 Жыл бұрын
Yes you can use the wooden plinth from the 505-2 505-3 and 505-4 they all fit perfectly very easy to do. No skills needed just a screwdriver to remove one screw where's the cables lift the chassi and put it back in the wooden plinth. If you end up buying and need help let me know but I guarantee you is really easy. On ebay sometimes you can find the wooden plinth around £25 if you in UK

@@ianunes25 Thanks. I'll have a look. I have see a lot of 505 plinths going cheap but I guess that's because they don't fit?
@ianunes25 Жыл бұрын
@@TheGramophoneGirl they all fit because the chassi springs are all locate in same place. But you can always send me the link of what you want buy and I have a look and see if will fit 👍

@@ianunes25 I think I'll stick with the 2, 3 and 4 wooden plinth search. I suppose I could always put their chassis in my plastic plinth and sell it for something. They're still good players and unbeatable for the money.

Very nice. My story: An old Trio MC cartridged linear tracking turntable I'd been using had recently stopped functioning properly so I bought my old CS 505-1 down from the loft. That had also ceased working about twenty years ago! After a good old KZbin search I squirted some juice into the microswitch and Hey! Presto! etc. It sounded so good that I went and picked up a non-functioning version 3 because I preferred the look of the (crappy mdf veneered) plinth. Managed to get that working too in ten minutes although the arm needs a good look at. These are still seriously decent and musical sounding turntables even when stylii and whatnot are a bit worn out. They all deserve a decent plinth like the one you've made Alexandre! Reckon I might have a go at making one in hardwood.

Hi Graeme Dual turntables are good but the mechanism need regular service (if not use for some time) to keep them going. But if you use the turntable regularly then would work fine. I just did a nice wood plinth for a Dual CS505-3 like yours. Take a look kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIS1mIN5mLF6qq8 On my Instagram I have the all process. I kept the original plastic base to be able to use the transit screws.

The plinth is incredible, the turntable not so much.

Yes true. This is a entry level turntable. Does the job for someone with low budget and the sound improved a lot with this plinth. The new owner is a happy guy and I am too very pleased to gave him the chance of having a nice deck for the money 👍
