Man your tutorials are always hella amazing. Didn't know you could output a fullscreen version of the preview which always led to me just grabbing the preview window and enlargen that to my screen size. Mirroring that to another screen is WAY better. Thanks a lot for that! I often feel like I'm kinda ok at editing and then see the professionals whipping out windows like the lumetri scopes and 500 different audio tracks at once like you do and immediately feel overwhelmed. Kind of as if it's impossible to get all this into my head. Any chance of getting a tutorial on lumetri scopes and how to work with them if there aren't any already?

I have been editing both photos and video with two monitors for years unless traveling and using my laptop. I recently updated my system with a new Dell 5820 workstation pretty full or ram and as much power as I could get out of it to replace my old Dell so I could work with 8K files. I stopped updating Adobe at the 2017 version because the newer version were not as good in my opinion. For this new computer, I could no longer download the 2017 version even in the older versions tab. With the newest version, it does not save my layouts and I get LOTS of audio drop outs. I have to save a separate MP3 and then render. I am glad that saving workstation layouts works for you - I have to reset with each project. It also seems to me that Adobe is now trying to copy DaVinci with the layout but misses the mark on color by a LOOOOONG shot. The only thing I think Adobe does better is chroma key. I have not yet made the full transition to DaVinci but I do think that time is fast approaching. I don't mind paying for it but it feels like a bloated, outdated software that fresh out of college kids were hired to try to make it relevant. At one time, I would recommend Adobe to everyone. Now, I point them to Resolve........ but I still use two monitors on both my computers!!! And in the past, I did have to hit your channel to fix the many problems I was having with Adobe. Glad it is still working for you. PS do a search - you will find that MANY are having the same problems with Premiere that I do....... PPS - I have a similar set up to you with the KRKs and used the 2017 version as a DAW. For my most recent music project, I have been using Reaper - the new effects in the new version of Premier are..... garbage. Just my $0.02. Really sad to see a great product go down so for in quality. Too much bloat.
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 2 жыл бұрын
The funny thing is, Resolve looks more like Premiere Pro than ever. 😂
@JonnyPink65
@JonnyPink65 2 жыл бұрын
@@VideoRevealed I think the two are getting close, but Resolve does not crash or lose audio..... 🤗 Premiere does have advantages such as familiarity...... Sad when such a great software cant fix the bloat. I wish I was the only one talking about that but the internet is full of many that switch for that same reason - I am now one of them. Overpriced, bloated software like buying a stock computer loaded with garbage that you will not use. I have to admit that finding a new way of doing the things in Davinci that i did automatically in Premiere are time consuming, but I don't have to save audio twice, then import, then re-render.... all I want is a program that works consistently - that is not Premiere. That was why I stuck with the 2017 version that I can no longer get - it simply worked consistently. I am not paying for something that is twice as much work. 😁 Thank you Collin for the reply. I am just more and more disillusioned with what we pay for that service and the problems that it still has. I have your video on how to keep Premiere from crashing in my favorites.

Great video Colin. Is it possible to have a third monitor so that it is feeding from the timeline only. I am using Edius and about to change to Premer Pro. With Edius, I have always had a third 4k monitor which was using the HDMI feed from the video card. Is this possible with Premier?

Hi Colin. Thanks for another great video. On Avid, you can save Workspaces to your User Profile, which is great for working across multiple machines in multiple different companies. Is there a similar way to do this for Premiere? I'm taking on more and more Premiere work now and it would be great to be able to bring my Workspace settings with me, although from Avid I know how many problems this can throw up. Cheers from the UK!
@VideoRevealed

Well, in theory you're supposed to be able to "sync" some settings like Workspaces with your Creative Cloud account, but I've never got it to work. Look for Sync Settings in the Preferences and see what happens. You can try manually copying them to and from this location: C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\22.0\Profile-[username]

The main problem of changing workspaces in Premiere is its ubelievably slow interface even no matter how powerfull your PC is. Especially, with high resolution monitors. Because of this changing the workspace takes several seconds every time. So if I, for example, was working on a sound and suddenly noticed that I need to fix the colors a bit in one single clip (what I can do in a 5-10 seconds) and than immediately take back to sound editing, than I also have to wait 2-3 seconds for Premiere to reload the workspace back and forth :\ P.S. Sorry for my bad English if smth.

I have two problems with my dual monitor setup. Mercury playback doesn't take up the entire screen on my second monitor, it only takes up about 2/3's of the screen starting from the bottom left corner. I made a workspace on my 2nd monitor, but the panels are resized so they're smaller when I reopen Premiere Pro. For example, I have the window for an extension taking up about a fourth of my 2nd screen, but it resizes to a tiny square when I open Premiere Pro again. And is there a way to duplicate a panel so you can them on both monitors. I want to duplicate the program monitor so I can have it take up about 1/2 the screen of my second monitor. I also have a Loupedeck CT, so I'm thinking I can make a macro to have the program monitor go fullscreen on the second monitor. I won't have to mess with Mercury playback that way.
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 2 жыл бұрын
There is a second monitor, look for Reference Monitor in the Window menu. You can place that anywhere. Click on the wrench icon to Gang to Program Monitor so they display the same thing.

@@VideoRevealed I found out what the issue was. The 'display scaling' value for Windows 10 was not set to the same value for both monitors. I had my main monitor set to 125% because it's an ultrawide 4K monitor and 100% would make text and other objects too small. My second monitor is also 4K, but it's a regular windscreen, so I had the scaling set to 100%. Changing the second monitor to 125% resolved the issue and makes it so Mercury Playback takes up the whole screen. Reference monitor doesn't work for me because it doesn't "play" along with the program monitor. Also, the custom workspace would go back to how I set it if I use 'Reset to saved layout'. But it doesn't automatically show up like that Premiere Pro starts...

One thing you didn't explain that sadly most editors don't know is that if. you are using Mercury Transmit to display fullscreen via GUI the colorspace is not valid for professional level color grading. That must be done thru a external device or card such as Blackmagic or AJA to a calibrated monitor.
