This is sick, dude. You're so wrapped up in the technical aspect, it's really easy to overlook that you're actually a fantastic musician to boot. But the real point here is that you just revived this particular 90s genre with complete accuracy and sincerity. People so immersed in bygone eras that efforts to replicate them aren't just parody or pastiche, but a seamless continuation- that's what our scene is really all about, right?
@GaliMercury7 жыл бұрын
Damn dude, you are so right. This legit sounds like a 90's Jungle track. And Markey tells me he doesn't really consider himself a musician. He's so modest about himself. ;w;

Less than a year after you released this, it's still going strong. I have a lot of high hopes that more people see this and start to have some ambition for building in a dual PCM equivalent for any Genesis trackers, particularly VGMMM or DefleMask's Genesis mode.

I'd love it in VGMMM as I _occasionally_ experiment with porting tunes to it, but isn't it dead?

Markey Jester So Dual PCM and JST where different drivers? Also are both of them harder than the other to make or they're equally hard to make?
@MarkeyJester6 жыл бұрын
JST is a marketing name, a joke name, a pun on the old "Blast Processing" thing. It does exist though, the driver had a buffer space, and would copy more PCM data into that buffer than it actually needed to play, and it would do what old disc players used to do, read ahead of the disc than what it was actually playing, so that if the disc was interrupted in some way, it would continue playing what it had already loaded while the disc stabilises and fixes itself. This is a similar thing, it'll read PCM data from the ROM through the 68k window into a buffer ahead of time, and if it could not access the 68k, it would instead play what it's already loaded until the 68k became available to access (similar to streaming an online video, hence the gimmicky name Stream Technology). Dual PCM has a similar buffer system in place, which does the same thing, but of course, because it's two different samples in different places, there is a lot of complicated programming going on to ensure it works efficiently. So technically they have the same type of technology (although programmed slightly differently). Dual PCM is technically more difficult, because there's two samples, there's pitch control, there's volume control, there's reverse playback, there are filter effects, and the samples being played can be two completely different samples from different locations in the ROM, and of different unlimited size, all including the buffer streaming system to ensure no quality loss.
