Its cloudy, therefore I build a 3D Printed Guide Scope bracket for the dual telescope rig.

Hey Andy, great video, you spoke all of us into Astrophotography in the U.K dealing weeks of cloudy night skies. I'm working on my portable rig myself, looking forward to seeing your next video, clear skies.

Love the 3D printed parts and the twin rig, it's awesome! Well Done! My friend, here in Liverpool and NW England generally, we've had, by my count, just 12 cloudless night skies all year!! And some of those "cloud free" nights were actually "scattered clouds passing by with openings" kind of nights!! It drives me nuts!! LOL.

Great video Andy Couldn't help notice the cone on the cat while it was looking at the fish tank behind you :)

He is on the mend, had a cut from a scuffle and is house bound for two weeks for healing. He's getting there. Well observed and thanks for the comment!

Me too, it's so close now, most bits are in place. I just need a long clear night and some free time - none of which a easy to come by. Hope you are well.

Yes I can sympathize. had 2 months of solid cloud and rain here too. Clearly I need a 3d printer

I am located in the Netherlands (south eastern part) and I bought my first strain wave gear mount 3 weeks ago. Did not had the chance to test it due to rainy / cloudy weather. 🌧🌧

I hope im wrong, but im sure you're going to get some flexure. Maybe an oag will be a better solution? Hope this works though
@AndyofAstroАй бұрын
Still work in progress, I will reinforce it, but it does need some testing.

Interesting but why two scopes? Isn't a single bigger one a cheaper option?
@AndyofAstroАй бұрын
Great question. Twice the imaging time on a single target. It reduces the F ratio. F Ratio = Focal Ratio of one single scope/The square root of the number of actual lenses (number of telescopes). Therefore, a 130pds is F5, divided by the square root of the number of lenses (2 scopes = 1.414): Therefore 5/1.414 = F3.5. Therefore the focal ratio is faster at F3.5.

maybe let it machine it out of metal to prevent too much flexture
@jesuschrist2284Ай бұрын
I think there will be flexure even then. Look at those two loads he's throwing around. Impressive though. Flexure can be solved :)

I'll being making a v2 reinforced one, hopefully it will be less bendy!
