Dual-zone A/C retrofit on BMW F30 + IHKA3 Retrofit

Hello, in today's video am gonna show you how to retrofit and code dual-zone climate in your BMW F30/31/32/33/34/20/21/22
This project is very time consuming and it's not you casual "weekend project"
In total it took me several weeks of preparation, researching and collecting parts.
Installation took 4 days, though I had to wait 2 days for dashboard support to dry because I have painted it with anti-rost paint.
NOTE:
After all installation is done, you have to re-charge A/C and add coolant (in my case I had to add about 2 liters of coolant)
I haven't mentioned this in the video because it's obvious that is needs to be re-charged if it's completely drained :D

Well done mate! I've done the same retrofit on my 05/2014 F20. Was a little bit easier than yours because I didn't needed to change dates on FEM. Also my car is already equipped with can2 and IHKA3. But congratulations for the tutorial! In my opinion, it's a retrofit that as a medium difficulty but should only be done by people who know what they are doing.

Thank you. Yes, exactly like that, this retrofit is not that difficult but time consuming and should be definitely done by someone who knows what's doing. This shouldn't be a first retrofit for someone who haven't done any modifications to their car.

How do you find out if your F20 is already equipped with can2 and IHKA3?

@@abdul-otf E-SYS will show you the name of the module. Also, the wiring to the idrive joystick will determine if you have can ou can2!

The interior light tutorial you did? Wrong, because you used for sure 1 wrong cable which messes with the interior light, lock and unlock function.

Hi, I have a question. I have a 2013 F30 and it has 2 zone air conditioning. Can I install such a panel in my car? I probably don't have an IKHA 3 in my car - will a swap for an IKHA 3 and coding suffice?

Ciao, io ho un F20 lci del 2017 con clima monozona. Se io volessi montare solo i comandi del clima bizona, si può fare? So che comunque funzionerebbe come il monozona, lo monterei solo per un fatto estetico.

Thanks for this video! On the other hand, I wanted to upgrade just climate panel from 1 zone auto to 2 zone (digital) auto without fully retrofitting my AC. So I do not need an 2 zones, just one with digital two zone panel. Do you maybe know how I could do just that?

Hi ace I did everything like you did in the video but my heaters don't turn off they just go to the lowest setting like yours did in the video. What did you do so it turns completely off and not just staying on the lowest mode no matter how many times you press the button. Thanks

Hi, sorry for the late reply you have probably solved the issue bynow, but anyway, you just need to recharge the AC and then you can turn off the fan completely. :)

Hello ace I have a 2014 march f30 can i simply just swap the heater/radio outer trim and code it to work with my headlights.As in go from white display to red at night.

03/2014 F30 should have IHKA3 ECU, but am not 100% sure. It would be better if you take out the ECU and compare it with the video. To take out ECU you need to remove glove box only, not whole dash.

Benefit from IHKA to IHKA3 is only esthetic. The only difference is screen, it's re-designed and has 2 colors (amber and white for day and night) while IHKA has only amber light. Since I have doing a complete dual-zone retrofit I have decided to go with IHKA3 bcs price difference is very little. Since your car is 2014, you might already have IHKA3 ECU, remove glove box and take a look. If you have it, you only need new screen and coding.

@@johnpatrick7101 Hi. You need: - IHKA3 ECU - A/C screen (Screen needs to be 2016, ECU as a minimum, mid-2014+ or even better, 2015) For the wiring and coding check the video.
