I'm never bored watching running events, even marathons. I don't get bored even on my own runs. Many must have music but to me that is a distraction and detracts from training performances.

Paula was hinting the Kenyan pacemakers are trying to blow up the Ethiopians so they don't break the WR. I was thinking the same thing. I thought Haile G. did the same thing pacing in London 2015.

If one guy basically not well-known from an African country runs super fast, I can buy it. When a bunch of guys, mostly from the same country (Ethiopia) and basically all unknown, all run stupid fast in a race organized by billionaire Sheikhs to showcase their country to the world, my doping-senses get activated. As when I watched FloJo in 1988, and the Chinese women in 1993, and the Ethiopian woman who ran 19:17 in 2016....if it looks too good to be true, then it probably isn't.

Most ludicrous and insulting to call all the non-elite "fun runners", as if they are not as serious. How many win prize money or have sponsorship or paid fares and expenses? Only a small handful. So all the rest are doing it just for fun? What kind of fun is that? I can think of many activities more fun than that.

I’ve run numerous marathons. It’s about as fun as root canal therapy. Disneyland is fun; marathons are torture. Marathoners are masochists. Satisfying, yes, especially if you make your time goals, but if it was fun, everyone would be doing it.

@@seer1623 I never have because if I ran it comfortably it would be too slow, and to me there's no point in that. To be hurting all the way didn't make sense either, and I've never been competitive. If I were young again I might try it
