I'm an ex British soldier, served seven times in Ireland. Soldiers fought for both sides and against all terrorist organisations. We never chose, so here is a list. Ulster Defence Association (UDA) Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF) Red Hand Commando (RHC) Ulster Resistance (UR) Loyalist Volunteer Force (LVF) Ulster Protestant Volunteers (UPV) Irish diaspora communities within the Anglosphere, and the Palestine Liberation Organization and Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. Can you see how complicated this gets. However the IRA were never wanted by southern Ireland. Another words it was a cause they knew did not exist. That said I would put money into that mans guitar case. Many a pub had that song blaring from it. It takes me back, and he sang the song well. Truth is they hated each other for reasons I still do not understand. However it is in the past where it belongs. Soldiers from the UK across the world stand to stop one bunch of people from killing the opposite bunch. I had no side but understood all sides. All from that period who died from the conflict rest in peace. I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

Charles Hill You still haven’t left that mentality of quantifying everyone’s ancestry and bloodlines clearly. The point of my initial statement was that it doesn’t matter where you come from or who your ancestors were. Our Republic was initiated by Protestant land owners viz. people who descended from planters, not Gaelic catholic’s. The point of a republican state is to put an end to such superficial categories and hierarchies. The EU represent this just as our republic does. Both are the natural correlation of the enlightenment Philosophers such as Hegel. The EU is not perfect but it best represents an end of history in line with our struggle for equal recognition.

Pringle Price how the fuck is that lies? 6 are British u want stain
@pringleprice50846 жыл бұрын
LDNmedia I meant the original comment was lies, 6 (well 5 anyway) counties of ulster (NI) have a protestant majority which is why they are part of the UK 🇬🇧🇬🇧
@chobochobus6 жыл бұрын
Pringle Price hold on. They aren't apart of the UK because they are a Protestant majority, they were a Protestant majority back when Ireland was getting independence. Derry has been completely changed from the IRA executing and changing drug dealers into good people and now Derry are supporting United Ireland, and a Poll was done of 2000 people in the North and over 50% want home rule, just a few more years lad

He would be better off trying the persuade people in Northern Ireland to want to be part of Ireland. BTW, I am English and I don't get why people in Northern Ireland want to be British.
@LeMerch4 жыл бұрын
It’s because London sent over plantations of English and Scottish settlers. The descendants of those settlers are mainly found in the north east of the island and when Ireland won the war of independence against the UK, Northern Ireland was carved off as part of the deal and handed to Unionists in Northern Ireland to rule. Fast forward a few decades and the Irish in Northern Ireland felt like second class citizens - no voting rights, no jobs, burned out of their houses, discrimination, not allowed into the political or police force etc... civil rights movement lead to full scale civil war. The IRA. Ceasefire. Good Friday agreement. Some peace. Now Brexit comes along to bring it back to potential violence again.
@jimmorrison26574 жыл бұрын
@@LeMerch Ok, fair enough. Thanks for the background. If I was Irish, I personally would want Ireland to be one country. I just think the best way to do this would be to get the people in the north to also want this. They currently don't want it, so this would have to be worked on. Making them feel included etc. This bloke singing in the street, as right as he may be, won't achieve anything.
