Dubrovnik was founded by Ancient Greek settlers who called their settlement Rogas (Rock). Dubrovnik, a medieval city at the coast of Dalmatia in Croatia is historically known as Ragusa. Dubrovnik is one of the most visited cities in the Mediterranean. The city has a population of 45,000 and the medieval old town within the city walls is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Dubrovnik was a part of the Byzantine, Venitian and Austrian Empires, but it ruled itself as the free maritime city state 'the Republic of Ragusa' between the 14th and the 19th centuries. Therefore it had to defend itself against the empires. Some highlights of the city are the Old Town and the city walls, the Cathedral, the Sponza Palace, the Rector's Palace, the Minceta Tower, the Franciscan Friary and Church and the Stradun.
Music by C.K. Martin 'Incandescent With Passion' and 'Euphoric Bliss'.
