Fayte I just want to let you know the power this song has had in my life. My mother passed back in May the 25th and leading up to all of it I ran into your original wonder song, I listened to it everyday when I would leave the hospital. It genuinely allowed me to feel nothing for a second and just vibe for the time being. Everytime I hear this song I think of her, I’m crying right now just thinking of the horrors that I felt throughout that time. I’ve since been able to piece back parts of my life and have also been sober 13 days now. The feeling this song has been able to make me feel is unmatched and allows me to somewhat relive the times I was fortunate enough to experience with her before cancer took too much. I miss her beyond anything in this world and I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart to allow me to experience some of those feelings again from time to time. I’m aware that I don’t know you, I see you with Gram, but I just want to say I love you for this. I miss you mom. “It’s not goodbye, its I’ll see you again.” This gives me life everytime I’m allowed to experience this song. Thank you Fayte, have a great day. I love you MOM! I'm terribly sorry for the loss of your mother, no amount of preparation makes that process any easier. As someone who's lived through something similar I can promise you things will continue to get better. Nobody in the world could ever replace your Mom so it's going to feel strange going forward, that feeling never goes away. But just know that she's no longer sick, no longer suffering, and is finally able to rest, awaiting the next time you two will reunite. There's no doubt in my mind that your mother would be so proud of your recent sobriety. Reading your comment also brought me to tears because not only do I feel for you, but there's a bit of a backstory to Wonder that makes your comment immensely relatable. Back in 2019 my father passed away from pancreatic cancer. He had recently turned 45, and I was 23. I did a lot of things to try and cope with his loss, but one thing that always allowed me to feel normal was music. One of his favorite songs of all time was "Bone Thugs-N-Harmony - Crossroads" which is about the pain and dealing with the loss of loved ones. Very pretty melodies with such a deep and heavy tone to it. Yet it's a song I remember fondly of and has been a part of my life since I was a little kid. After he passed I wanted to remix, cover, anything with that song but ever since I just haven't been able to. And it crushed me to no end to not be able to muster up the courage to commit to it. A couple years later I began production on Wonder. My first real attempt at a melody driven drop (or "future riddim"). As the song kept going through production, it kept getting happier but equally more sad. The melodies were cheery but the synths were almost crying in a strange way. Half way through production of the song I realized I was channeling that moment I promised myself to cover that song for my Dad. A happy song that was about sadness. A song that was for my Dad. I still plan on making that cover/remix one day, but Wonder made me feel half fulfilled for the time being until I'm emotionally ready to fully commit to making that cover. When you've dealt with one of the biggest loses life throws at you, you need to count every W no matter how big or small. A win is a win. To say your comment resonates with me is an understatement. I can't tell you how happy I feel knowing that Wonder has helped you in a similar way it helped me. My deepest condolences to you and your family. The most important thing for us to take away at the end of the day, are the moments we shared with those we lost. NOBODY will ever take that away, and we cherish every second we had with them in this beautiful life they gave us. Thank you for your comment, and please don't be a stranger.
