I like the saw but the flaw is they designed it to continually turn itself off. You do a cut and go to do the next cut a few seconds later only to find it turned itself off in the interim.

I'm having a problem getting the chain lock wheel nut to click in. Nothing appears to be broken, could the bar be bent a bit?

How long do batteries last

About 500 watt hours is enough to cut a good size pick-up load of 18 - 22" inch wood. One 6Ah batter has 108 Wh. One 5Ah has 90 Wh. So 6 batteries of either would suffice with a little to spare. Put one set on the saw and renew the batteries twice, then head home. Don't bother with 3Ah batteries as you'll be changing batteries all the time - but hey, if that's what you have changing batteries is better than buying batteries. This is the beauty of Makita outdoor tools. You can use what you already have for you hand tools.
