Ducati Dirty Dozen bonus Schofield Pass

Schofield Pass isn't part of the actual Ducati Dirty Dozen ADV ride, but it is on the way as you're traveling between the clump of passes near Mosquito/Tin Cup/Hancock and the main cluster around the Alpine Loop near Telluride.
Schofield is 10,707ft, which is well short of the Dirty Dozen's 12,000ft minimum requirement. What it lacks in elevation, it makes up for in chunkiness! This pass was an absolute highlight of the trip for Spencer and me. The Ducati Desert Xs were a ton of fun on this ride.

You guys and those Ducati’s are inspiring! I grew-up in Colorado and hiked Schofield Pass about 50 years ago. Some of those rocky section look mighty challenging. I ride a DR650 these days and I think that pass would test my limits..

Just love it! I did a couple of passes in Colorado with my DesertX and it is a mean rock eating machine! I did 5 of the Dirty Dozen passes last September and I’m planning to come back this year to finish the COBDR and DD! Well done! BTW, got tired of of waiting for Spinalli and ended up buying TracTives. In the mail right now!

Great ride! Reminds me of a track we have in Australia called the Bridle track in NSW. Not quite as rough as that but big drop offs if you screw up!

I was pleasantly surprised at how well it did in the more technical terrain. The motor screams up top but lacks the low-end grunt of some of the other bikes in the segment. It needed a lot more clutching than I'm used to in the tough stuff but it made it through just fine.

@@CamelADV - T7 definitely has more grunt but in terms of ride dynamics I find them somewhat similar. Keep in mind I have average skills at best :(

They are different bikes for different tasks. The DX is a much better all-rounder; the T7 is much better in technical terrain.

Impressive, is the Desert X still on the stock suspension? (other than the HD Eibach spring you installed)

It has some suspension work done. The stock stuff doesn't have a ton of potential; not for rowdy riding anyway. The cartridges are quite small and they need a ton of work to get them to a decent level. The DX Rally is enticing with the KYB SSS set-up.

I'm sure there are places in the area that do. Also, check out Ready To Ride Rentals. They are in Arizona but do rides in Colorado, and they have a fleet of top-shelf bikes available.
