I have removable drops on all of my calls except my #1 mallard call. I have 2 mallard calls (acrylic & wood for tone/volume variety), hen teal call, & whistle. Those are my go to calls headed out to the marsh. I also have gadwall, diver, speck, snow calls in my blind bag ready to go with drops on them if I see enough of those other birds to get them out and just attach or replace existing calls on the lanyard. I do not like 6-8 calls on the lanyard getting tangled up with each other. I have super short 2-3 inch drops too. Helps the calls lay in a more consistent position rather than me fumbling and looking down to find my call. They're where I expect to find them without having to move my head. Minimizes movement and helps me get on a call faster when needed. Hope that helps!!

Great video 👍🏻👊🏻💪🏻I’ve always been big on having species specific calls. I don’t wear them all, though. I keep them in my blind bag and wear the ones I need for the day. Duck hunting is so different everywhere, and can also change at different times of the season. Sometimes being realistic is the best way, sometimes being aggressive and manipulating the ducks is better. Sometimes it’s no calling. Reading the ducks is key to knowing.

The double nasty for me always has always been issues out of the box. constantly sticking with any amount of condensation built up till it completely seizes up and if you accidentally drop it in the water it’s useless has no high end it’ll break and catch a high note here and there this was my out of box comparison to DC, knight and hale, and haydells. I grabbed the double nasty cheap on the clearance rack one day and never will I get another 🤷🏻♂️

Alright man so. Yes your right. Mallards don’t do high balls. They don’t feed call at 200 miles per hour. Your right. However, a duck isn’t NEARLY as loud as the quietest duck call on the market. Duck calls make sounds that are much louder & in some cases much more attractive sounding than live ducks. That’s why they work so well in the right situations. It’s like a hen mallard calling on steroids.

Most of my calls are over 40 years old, mostly wood, with the exception of a Primos "Timber Wench", it has the most realistic highball of any of my calls, and a Primos hen teal call. My Faulk's pintail whistle, which can work on widgeon & teal is approaching 50. I have a Faulk's wood duck call that is very old and sounds real but have had better results using the whistle end of a plastic musical "recorder" to mimic their squeals. Listening to ducks at a park or zoo is great and hearing them in the fields is, of course, best. I have spent most of my time and $ on deer hunting prep this year, but am always ready to get in a blind or stand under a tree. Best of it all to you and be safe.
