I figured it out by accident and never told my sister or my dad when I was a kid, I told them I was just pretending to do it 😆😆

I'm one of the few that discovered this trick ages ago lol. I'd do this just to mess with my friends and they never knew. XD

That's awesome. I wish I would've known this trick as a kid. - Anthony

I always thought it was common knowledge.

@@PedersonPantry It was if you actually read the instruction manual. I guess a lot of people never bothered for such a simple and straightforward game.

Why am I finding this out 25 years too late?!?!?!
@pulsecodemodulated11 ай бұрын
Because you never read the instruction manual.

One of my cousin’s homes had ‘Duck Hunt’- it was the first game I ever played. I NEVER KNEW THIS, EVER. 🤷🏻♂️🤯

I saw the meme today with the star trek guy and it said why didn't anyone tell me that the second controller controls the duck in Duck Hunt. and the Manual was on the bottom. I was shocked.

It's not our store, but one of our favorites to shop at and visit, Game On in Long Island.

Yes, of course. It was in the booklet. You need a video for this?
@RetroGamersPodcast4 ай бұрын
Surprisingly, a lot of people did not realize it was in the booklet because...well...some people didn't read the booklet. I remember as a kid that I would always devour the booklet before starting a game, but Duck Hunt was definitely not one of them. Thanks for the comment! - Anthony

It was in the manual but what kid read those? Chances are this was your first game on NES so you demolished the boxes to play some Mario. Since you had it you never bothered to rent it the games where simple enough. But the few who did read it got a cool secret 😈

I could never understand why people were so surprised about this function - it's literally in the "How To Play" section on page 8 of the instruction manual. "One player is the hunter. The other player controls the ducks horizontally and vertically with the control pad, trying to avoid the hunter's shots until the sky color changes."

Who read instruction booklets that thoroughly back then? LOL I sure didn't HAHA -L

@TheRetroGamersPodcast True, haha. Duck Hunt turns 40 years old next month and I've just been playing through it again for the first time in about 25 years, as I purchased the original revolver version of the Zapper from Japan, along with Duck Hunt, Wild Gunman and Hogan's Alley for my Japanese AV Famicom.

That is the top loading NES. It was released near the tail end of the NES’ life cycle.

It lacked AV out and only had an RF output, unlike its Japanese counterpart, the New Family Computer aka "AV Famicom"
