My dad was in the Marine Corps for 22 years. Mom raised 3 kids basically by herself. She taught me how to fish, how to throw a ball, how to be courteous. Mom was also the disciplinarian. She was expert at using a Marine corps belt! I miss her.

So Jase's name was inspired by Si, well that inspiration and character that Si put into Jase inspired my wife and I to name our son Jason after jase. He gets jase for short, and our hope is that he is just as godly a man and inspires others to follow Christ too.

Uncle Si is a national hero and the funniest man I know other than my late father. I still remember watching Fats through the binoculars at the beach when he was trying to get up from an old folding lawn chair on the fishing pier. First look he was rocking, trying to get up. Second look, he had bent the metal legs from straining and rocking. Third look, the metal bar across the bottom of the chair had gotten caught in the crack between two pieces of wood of the fishing pier. After laughing a few seconds, fourth and final look, he was up facing and grabbing at the chair as it was falling off the pier into the ocean! I died laughing! This was after ruining two other lawn chairs the day before tying to get out of them when he was sitting on the beach! I knew what was coming when he went to the pier to sit down.
