I love how they made the music intentionally time-neutral. Whether it's a Cro-Magnon scout rallying his tribe for an attack after finding the enemy, a Legate leading the charge, or a squadron of pilots getting into their aircrafts. It just fits.

For me this song always fitted both prehistoric epochs and modern / future epochs the best. It got this gritty feeling that matches both types of Warfare so great, one being with blunt weapons and stones thrown at each other while the other being fought with giant robots, lasers and guided rockets.

The song "Shadows" haunted me for years in a good way. I have a version from another KZbinr which has way higher quality than this, but it clips hard and overdrives at the "climax" of the song... This version lacks high frequencies and sounds like it has been butcherd by bad encoding (despite 720p, maybe post-upload). Why can't be there a high quality version without any flaws.... :( Whatever, great soundtrack. Back in the Age Of Empires hype, my brother played it on our AMD K6-2 350 MHz with 64 MByte of RAM. Good times.
