I was at this park a week ago after watching your video. Such a beautiful park! I have to be back to camp here now. I was disappointed for one reason: I made 2 day trips to the park, and yet I never saw even one deer. But the views from penitentiary hollow more than made up for it. Absolutely spectacular, especially in the morning listening to the birds and viewing the lake! Thank you for your videos, I look forward to watching more of them!

You are most welcome! I am so surprised that you did not see any deer! I saw more here than in any other Texas state park!

Just another reason why I have to visit Lake Mineral Wells State Park again soon. My mind is totally blown that you spotted a tarantula there! Seems to me a Texan would have to travel to Big Bend in order to encounter one of those. Thanks for sharing!

@@paulh3479 I have seen tarantulas in a lot of places in north Texas. I live north of McKinney and we have a very healthy population there. thanks for watching!!

@@DudeRV Thank you for your videos. I very much enjoy them. As for tarantulas, the last time I saw one was at a rattlesnake zoo kind of place in Fort Davis. Living under the canopy of pine trees here near Tyler I don't often get a chance to venture out to where they habitat. I need to go west more often!

One more thing that I'd like to add: I use a tube smoker for pellets also when I smoke meat in my electric smoker as a way to supplement more smoke. If you have one, a heat gun works very well in igniting the pellets in the tube.
@DudeRV3 жыл бұрын
I too use a pellet tube! If there is a burn ban and I have to pull out the propane fire pit the tube smoke works great to ad that smoke smell. thanks for sharing!!

Hey Bob great video. I never knew Lake Mineral Wells was such a hidden gem, especially considering I've lived so close to it most of my life. What did you say the brand name for your smoker tube was? I am looking to add one to my gear.

I love that campground! Such a beautiful place! AS for the smoker tube, It seems to be unavailable on Amazon but here is one that will work and I have a longer one from Kampfire that I uses on my big gas grill. amzn.to/3xGCteo Thanks for watching!

Bob, New Subscriber here. A suggestion: Since you do a drive around how about showing more campsites please. I am one of those that dislikes having the table, grill and fire ring on the wrong side of the RV (makes no sense in many cases). So this would help in choosing in new parks we aren't familiar with. Thanks
@DudeRV5 жыл бұрын
Philip I am most grateful for your support! Your suggestion has lots of merit. I do my best to point out some of the better sites but the amount of time required to highlight every individual sites would result in extremely long videos. Also there is a website that already visits each site, campsitephotos.net ( I think ) also we should see a whole new reservation system for Texas State Parks this year that will allow us to actually reserve a specific campsite rather than the way it is now where we reserve a spot and hope we end up with a good one when we arrive. The new system is supposed to be similar to recreation.gov where we can actually see pics and reviews of each campsite. I do appreciate your suggestion and am most grateful for you subscribing! thanks a whole bunch for watching too!!

We lived next a large cemetery when I was a kid and them tarantulas would come out of it in droves and crawl up our screens and doors and sometimes get in the house. We used to shoot them with our bb guns. They will rear up and even jump at you. Nasty things uggh.
