Well, I guess you still got plenty of options with Number 38 and some of the Galaxy-Eyes and Photons. Blue-Eyes actually has one xyz monster as a prize card, but it is not allowed in tournaments since its effect is a bit too much xD

Blue-Eyes can’t get an Xyz monster, just the same way as Dark Magicians can’t get a Synchro monster. Blue-Eyes are locked into only legally using fusion or synchro monsters by Konami, they’ll probably never get a themed Xyz, Pendulum or Link monster. It’s just the way Konami made it.

@@OfTheMindscape well I see what your saying with the exceed since yugis already got that kaiba would need something different to what yugi would use, but I think both dm and bewd could get a link that isn't their monsters as links but support monsters upgraded to a link like maiden w eyes of blue or magicians valkyria I could maybe see being a support link for their respective decks

Because its activation was negated, it wasn't "face up on the field", so its destruction didn't go off.
