Hi, i am, i'm a massive fan of DM and battle city, i've always loved Yugi's weird monsters like the phantom beasts, did you know that in the manga you can fuse any two or more monsters together with polymerization to make basically whatever? This is how chimera the flying mythical beast came to be, and also how the magnet monsters fuse into valkyrion the magna warrior, which is a fusion in the manga! Here's another fun manga fact, did you know that in the manga fusion monsters are NOT counted as individual cards? instead they're treated as multiple monsters in the field despite ocupying one monster zone, because of this reason you CAN use a fusion monster as the whole tribute for a high leveled monster like Dark Magician or even a god card like Slifer or Obelisk that requires three tributes :) TLDR read the manga, it's really damn cool.

The illusion cards are certainly something. It’s weird, every time a new typing is added to the game, Konami has always made the initial wave broken in some way. Psychic, Wyrm and cyberse all had broken stuff by day 1. Yet here’s illusion not bending over the format alongside a new summoning mechanic or being apart of a broken archetype. AGOV also doesn’t have anything threatening either. They must really be taking their time before getting serious about making the typing relevant without it being the harbinger of another era.

What’s mostly surprising to me is that they don’t have some generic card that’ll see any play. All 3 of the previous new types didn’t have tier 1 decks on release, but had good individual cards like Thought Ruler Archfiend and Firewall Dragon. Illusions are almost all part of one archetype, which isn’t a pure illusion deck, and the one illusion not explicitly tied to that archetype is a main deck monster that’s not even worth a slot in that deck. The second being (no exaggeration) literally just the pack filler commons they don’t tell us about until the set releases is an even stranger step in their journey.

nah those ursarctic cards did make Ursarctic playable... at least casually or at least playable as an actual deck. It's still unplayable competitively, but I think most ursarctic fans really wanted the deck to function and I think this support helps out with that.

I think you're under selling cosmic quasar dragon. You completely omitted the fact the activation and effect of its negating effect can't be negated. It doesn't matter how fast the effect is if your opponent can't do anything about it when it's used.

What could possibly still be on the field to negate once you’ve been able to establish a Limit Over Accel Synchro? Once you’ve played around your opponent’s entire board to set up such a hugely expensive synchro summon, all that should be left is removing their monsters and killing them.

@@TheKuribandits did you even stop to consider that this card might be useful in that removal process? A lot of cards are pretty dang hard to destroy. Either because they have built in protection or other cards protecting them. Being able to negate 4 cards at minimum(unlike og quasar it counts every monster used for its summon and even gives you a +1) can make it easier to break your opponent's board.

If a card is hard to remove these days, that's likely because it's untargetable or unaffected. There aren't that many bosses that have destruction protection and nothing else - the only one that comes to mind at the moment is Chengying

@@OyVeey plenty. especially considering that there aren't that many cards with built-in targeting protection and even fewer cards that are just unaffected by card effects. And most of the ones that do have less than 4000 atk and would have to rely on other methods to get over it. And remember it can negate any card, not just monsters so you can use it to deal with troublesome spells and traps. This card is good because it gives more ways to negate than just the standard reactive omninegate. Sure it's probably not 0tking your opponent, but it doesn't need to. Leave that to cards like shooting majestic star dragon and shooting quasar dragon.

Spiritwalk just didn’t feel like it changed Mikanko in any significant way. It’s just another good trap to choose from with your 1 trap search that doesn’t even trade with any more of your opponent’s board than the other traps do.

This set changes pretty much nothing tho. Revoltuion synchron is overhyped, we already figured purrley is already a busted deck and i suppose the mannadium supoort is pretty significant. It also introduces like 3 new competetive rogue/tier 2 decks that might not even top on to a pile of 50 other playable decks this format making the siding process even more of a headache
