I might add that you don't have to dress period or even stay at the fort. We have many people that pay for the weekend and come daily for the speakers and demonstrations ( the camp feast is also included; just bring a dish to pass). Next year's dates are April 13,14,15,16 2023. . Plenty of hotels in the area also!

IMHO, bad weather makes for the best experience in these events: it brings to mind the conditions in which our ancestors had to live and function. I've attended a number of rendezvous over the past 40+ years; the ones I remember most are those which nearly froze or drowned us... but we had a blast, learned a lot, and (as you noted in this wonderful video) enjoyed such great company. Black powder enthusiasts, buck skinners, and reenactors are some of the most interesting people on Earth. Thanks for another excellent video, Mike! -- Old Matt

That was just fabulous. You were only 152 MI north of where I live which is Smoot West Virginia I really wish I had known that event was going on, I would have tried my best to be at that event I will be there next year with my grandson, he loves this stuff. It was also snowing like that at my house and that was no April Fools. I also know how to make cordage like that young man was demonstrating and believe it or not that type of cordage last quite some time and pretty strong. Once spring break comes in for the school's I'm going to bring my grandson up there to check that place out I'm sure he will fall in love with it. I sure would have liked to met you I watch your videos a lot you've taught me a lot. Thanks again for the video it was most interesting and I'm sure it was pretty educational also well, at any rate y'all have a great day and stay safe and keep your powder dry!

The Longhunters were the men who trekked across the Appalachian Mountains to hunt and trap for months at a time. Their main cash crop was deer hides. They operated from the mid-1760s until the early 1770s.
