Recommend that you check the seminal recording of this tune, on Columbia CK 65568, done in 1957. The trumpet solo by Ray Nance is sublime. By 1966, Nance had left, and Cootie Williams had returned to replace Nance as the principal trumpet soloist. Whether due to poor mike placement or road fatigue, the essence of the piece is barely captured here.

a little faster than the "slow grind'...I like it. How can you NOT like? This is Ellington we're talking about! It's a little hard to hear though. I can't even hear the trumpets hit that high F# at the happy shout chorus around 2:40
