(In order of appearance): Take the 'A' Train, Mood Indigo, I Let a Song Go Out of My Heart, It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing), What Am I Here For?, Ring Dem Bells. This medley was probably arranged by Jon Charles, the Rosengarden band's resident arranger.

@Bill Kirchner Hi Bill! Is that tenor player the mysterious Jim Reider by any chance? - It sure sounds like him... And any idea of who's on guitar and who takes that space on trombone? Thanks in advance, Red Sullivan.

No, Red, Jim Reider died in 1968. And I don't recognize the guitarist or solo trombonist. Trombonists Eddie Bert and Bill Watrous joined Rosengarden's band later on, as did tenor saxophonist Eddie Daniels, but this was done when the Cavett show was in its infancy.

He and Basie were the best. Other bands disbanded or gave up when popular musical tastes changed, but those two rode it out and kept going. ❤️

Other big bands from the Swing Era also continued, including Woody Herman, Stan Kenton, Harry James, Les Brown, Buddy Rich, Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Lionel Hampton, Tommy Dorsey, and others.

That is indeed Joe Wilder and George Duvivier, but not Snooky Young. Snooky was on the Tonight Show band for many years, both in New York and L.A.

Boomie Richman on bass clarinet. Snooky is not in this. I believe it's Ernie Royal next to Joe Wilder.
