Probably the way to go for PSP FPS games. Only one analog stick lol. Glad the Vita fixed that mistake. I've heard it's a bit more awkward for Nintendo DS FPS games as most used the touch screen for aiming.

This game seriously needs a remaster on consoles PS4, 5, Nintendo switch Xbox One and S, Xbox series X and S, and last but not least PC. But Nightdive studios needs to acquire the license to do this because nobody doesn't want to buy an evercade console to play that game.

Better than the NES game? I'd recommend playing the arcade versions for: The Punisher, Aliens Vs Predator, and Robocop. Way better than the console ports at the time.

Dark Arena was another FPS I used to play! Ecks VS Sever 1+2, GBA was the shit!

Dark Arena was quite fun, but it'd be nice if both it, and Ecks Vs Sever, had battery-backed saving. The passwords in Dark Arena were unbearably long, thus leading to me trying to finish the game in one sitting. regardless, it was a decent shooter, and I've heard the levels were designed by Doom modders, which makes a lot of sense given the kind of game it is.

Enjoyed it a ton when I was a kid emulating it on our XP machine. Played it every day after school till I beat it, using an old Steelseries PS1 style controller. Duke and Max Payne were the two series I cared about in those days, and I was happy the GBA games were there just for more game time, years before Forever and MP3.

The GBA is a lot more powerful than people think it is. Randy Linden, the guy who ported Doom to the SNES and Dragon's Lair to the Amiga, ported the Quake engine to the GBA.

My biggest disappointment with this game (other than Torus didn't get a chance to make another one) is that it reused the Duke 3D box art. I love that box art and all, but I would have loved some new art to help sell that this isn't a port of Duke 3D, its a unique mini-sequel of sorts. It's one of those games that's just so neat and unique when viewed through the lens of when and what it was released on. Glad the Evercade (as niche as it is) at least offered a newer "official" way of discovering it.

The only GBA FPS I owned back then was the Wolfenstein 3D one. The Nintendo DS was better for FPS games. Dang shame we didn't get any FPS games for the Nintendo 3DS. The PS Vita port of Duke Nukem 3D was good too. Vita was great.
