I would happily pay a $100 cover charge and $15 for a wine cooler to listen to Mr. Duke Robillard. Strangely, I am hear by way of hearing Curtis Salgodo this morning on VPM Pubic Radio's program John's Porch in Richmond, Virginia.

In the late 80's I began to listen him and he added a lot to my knowings listening and Playing. I always found in him a perfect mix of T-Bone, Clarence G. Brown, Guitar Slim, Johnny Guitar Watson , Pee Wee Crayton, Old BB King, but all in a "Duke Mood". 20 years later (2008) I was Blessed with his presence in my country, and touring together with me and my band as his band. Even before his come back ti USA, he made two songs that he gave to me and recorded together. Forever My Guitar Hero

And in my YT channel, just Daniel Raffo, there's a lot of videos alive with him in his two visits in 2008 and 2011. Greetings and be in touch. I have a full show alive recording and mastered, Wich I sent him but I never ask for his permission to put in Spoty. Maybe I will sometime.

My favorite Blues guitarist along with Hollwood Fats. Legendary, Greasy, T Bone Walker Inspired riffs notes and even Jazz inspired horn like phrasing. Saw him once, up close, making a solid state amp just sing like a ...... Fender 1948 Twin amp. Only Hollywood Fats, who Stevie Ray Vaughn loved, came close. And having seen Jimmy Vaughn essentially play exactly the same way. Stellar blues guitar playing Old School Jazz influenced Blues.

Most players struggle a long time to get a signature sound and a signature tone. Duke gets at least a good half dozen killer tones on each album. Here he gets many amazing tones and sounds on one track. And he gets all that variety from one guitar/amp combination. He’s easily one of the best ever. Truly inspiring!!!!

He developed his sound by running away from his brother Gerald. Gerald is 10 years older than Mike (Duke). So when Gerald would go to work as a teenager, he would come home to chase his younger brother (Duke) around the house for being in his room playing his guitar. Ive always called it the rushing blues. Gerald is my grandfather. He still plays, but hes known for his paintings now.

Mike just put hundreds of guitar teachers with this scale production. It is pretty much all anyone needs to master the pentatonic scale. FYI many dont know this scale was so disrespected back in the day they called it the slave scale. Just to further insult the new delta pickers and players who were being discovered at the time. I found old publications of instruments and strings in various mag's from the 1920s and wow my people were really really hated back then.
