Flip gets absolutely no respect from the refs. Sometimes he is out of control, and lowers his shoulder, and the ref rightly calls an offensive foul. That’s fine. But don’t use that as an excuse to never give him a call, he got fouled at the rim and in the paint several times, especially the one with .2 seconds left. They review it and overturn the call? MJ Collins for V Tech punches Flip in the throat on an obvious technical, they review it, and say nah, no intent. Wow

Duke big men needs to be coached to attack the basket when they are merely 5 feet away (take a good look at what Lively did after he got the rebound---he threw the ball out???!!!) Ryan Young is a LIABILITY being away from the basket---he can't guard or keep up with a driving player. Despite all of these weaknesses, Duke should have won the game if the last call in regulation was unbiased. Filipowski was fouled as he drove to the basket JUST BEFORE TIME EXPIRED ( the ref on the lower left side signaled a foul). He should have gotten 2 foul shots without time left in regulation!

One of the worst officiating calls of the year. Filipowski clearly gets whacked across his upper right arm with 0.1 - 0.2 seconds on the clock before the neon light surrounding the backboard goes off to signify end of regulation time. Helen Keller could have made that call.

Goes to show why you can't leave the game in the hands of ACC Refs. I'd have to see a couple different angles to see if or when the foul occurred. However if UVA would of hit some damn free throws, the refs would have never had t make or miss that call. However I just want to remind people of the Grasyon Allen "game winner" where he clearly traveled. After years of calls going Duke's way, you can't get them all.

The ACC issued a statement saying the the overturned call was incorrect. Dunn, not Beekman, who cleanly blocked the shot, fouled Filipowski. The rules state, to paraphrase, that when the ball is in the air, and left the shooter's hands before the buzzer sounds, that constitutes continuation. So even if the foul had occurred after time ran out (and that doesn't appear to be the case), then Filipowski should have gone to the charity stripe. Regardless, it's over, but for Duke, it's a bitter pill to swallow.

Rule 5, Section 7, Art. 3. c. When a foul occurs so near the expiration of time that the official timer cannot stop the game clock before time expires or when the foul occurs after time expires but while the ball is in flight DURING A TRY, the period shall end when the free throw(s) and all related activity have been completed. Rule 5, Section 1, Article 12. A try ends when the throw is successful, WHEN IT IS CERTAIN THE THROW IS UNSUCCESSFUL, when the thrown ball touches the floor or when the ball becomes dead. (Caps used for emphasis.) The refs determined that there was no foul on Reece, and using replay, that any foul on Dunn occurred both after time expired and after the try had ended due to Reece’s block making it certain the shot was unsuccessful. It is outrageous for the ACC front office to rush out an erroneous interpretation and throw the refs under the bus in an hasty effort to protect one of its cash cows.
