I note the reference to ‘conversion’ here, but Eliot was never ‘converted’. He resolutely rejected that term and concept. I explain all this in my book, Anglo-Catholic in Religion: TS Eliot and Christianity, written at the request of his widow. This aside, bravo to Professor Strandberg for making TSE better known.

I can see what you're saying. On the other hand, though, I think of this Magus; a devotee of Manat, al-Uzza, and al-Lat; bringing forth the Death of his civilization as he has known it as his people adopt the new alien God, in one form or another.
