I think this was a well done video. I did like your analysis of what could have happened if the Rams got the first, that 3 points was likely with 1:15 or 33 seconds. I didn’t think of that in the moment. As an Eagles fan, I always think they are going to give up any 3rd down where the yards to go is 10 or more, as good as the D has gotten this year, it’s still a perceived Achilles heel for us. I will say that Sirianni’s word salad kinda tells me he that he didn’t call that and the execution he is talking about is the execution of either the play caller, Kellen Moore, or an audible by Hurts. If he had called that, he probably would have come out and say so as opposed to saying “players and coaches have to do better and that’s on me”

My problem with this sequence is the lack of Saquon. They use Gainwell the whole time which the defense knows is going to be a pass play in most cases…the Eagles still had timeouts and could’ve ran the ball with Barkley a time or two and possibly got into field goal range. It doesn’t seem like much but in the grand scheme of things Barkley is on the bench most of the fourth quarter saving a little more in the tank for the bigger games come January. Though because of this we did get to see him get into the top ten all time for rushing yards in a game (9th) and offensive yards in the game (9th). Yea not calling timeout with with 1:19 left was very questionable but I can see the psychological game being played there…bait the Rams into running the ball and getting stopped and at least have a little time left to get three points. If the Eagles call timeout the Rams are more inclined to pass the ball and try to get the first down since there would be more time left for their offense to score and to eliminate the threat of the Eagles offense having that time to score another touchdown.

The first DD in this video, I respectfully disagree. Bear in mind that the Eagles already completed the first half of the double-dip, scoring a TD to make it 13-7 right before the half. Any result that did not involve giving the Rams points was going to be a good result, and 3rd-and-13 situations, though perhaps not likely, can breed first downs. I've seen too many Eagles games where the coach called TO after 2nd down, only to watch the defense give up a first on third down so the other team keeps a TO in pocket and keeps a drive going. Now the second DD, I wholeheartedly agree! It drove me crazy to think that, after getting that stop and getting the ball back, they nearly gave the Rams a chance to score a go-ahead TD on the final play of the half. UGGH!!! And then there was a decision that I considered dumb which worked out for Sirianni: accepting a penalty and turning a 4th-and-3 into a 3rd-and-13, giving the Rams two cracks at getting a first down. Yes, the defense sacked Stafford on 3rd and then the FG try was missed, but I still think it made more sense to just let them try for the first with only one shot. (The officials allowing the late-acceptance is another story altogether.)

Siriani’s time management is still aggravating as an Eagles fan and I knew this was going to be a video, I was yelling at how dumb not saving time was before the half. Siriani also needs to make sure the challenge flag is out in time as we got lucky the review took place for the first ram drive fumble. That said, thank god Barkley was given the ball so much last night, I hope the run play calling continues. Though the hurts designed run plays suck. Hurts still doesn’t look good as a passer. Eagles defense thank god continues to be an absolute beast outside of the first rams scoring drive. The first two Rams TDs were gifted by the Refs after two separate bs PI calls that again the announcers disagreed with. The Eagles defense is seriously scary when poor ref calls or miss calls are taken into account.

This was maybe the worst call Nick made in an otherwise great game plan & great in game decision making as well. It doesn’t belong on the dumb decisions.Sirriani should be a COY candidate & he made several decisions last night to help his team seal the game. Initially declines a major penalty to put LA in a 4&3 when they showed they were going he then accepts the penalty putting them in a 3&13 which led to a sack and forced LA to attempt a FG which they missed. Then late in the game Eagles have a 4&IN from their own 21! He sends the O out to feign running their tush push, but he only intended to attempt to push LA offside on a hard count which worked and essentially sealed them a victory as Barkley took it 70 yards 2 plays later to put the Eagles up 37-14. Sirriani also listens to his players. The three eldest Offensive Linemen came to him in their bye week to remind Nick they need to go back to being the run first juggernaut they can be which instead of blowing his players coaching suggestions off he literally with Kellen Moore revamped his offensive scheme to allow his players to do what they do best. Sirriani is a winning football coach whom gets his players to play for him & not quit in the midst of adversity. He’s 44-19 in the regular season ! He’s on the verge of winning a 2nd NFC East Championship in 4 seasons & making the NFL playoffs 4 of 4 years with the Philadelphia Eagles. Not to mention he was a bad PI call away from probably winning the 2022-23 Super Bowl. Putting this particular decision on your video series of dumb decisions was absurd. And I feel you’re allowing your dislike of Sirriani to cloud your football Knowledge.
@Crateron15 күн бұрын
"Putting this particular decision on your video series of dumb decisions was absurd." Why? A dumb decision is a dumb decision, even if it is made by the smartest coach. Just like a smart decision is a smart decision, even if it is made by the dumbest coach. It has nothing to do with records, playoff appearances, or whether or not the coach had a flawless (or horrible) game plan otherwise. This series analyzes each decision based on their specific situations and/or the flow of the games at that point, whether the decisions affect the outcome of the game or not (more often than not they do affect the outcome). And it is nothing personal against Sirianni either, JG9 also points out other coaches who have made the same dumb decisions in the past (not calling a timeout in a situation like the one the Eagles faced was even featured in this series earlier this week with Mike Tomlin, so Sirianni is not being exclusively targeted).

Dont get me wrong, Sirianni made some bad choices in past games, but this I feel wasn't one of them. Honestly, this one was a stretch since the idea of not calling a timeout means less time for the Rams in case they got a first down. He was preparing for the worst-case scenario. There was a legit chance that could have happened, even on a 3 and 13. If they get the first down, then we would've been talking about a dumb decision to call the timeout, giving the Rams more time instead of letting the clock run down.

It isn't that dumb. if you get the ball back and it doesn't go well then you give the ball back to the Rams with timeouts since most likely you are passing the ball. So what do you do...Trust that if you are going to be able to move the ball that you can do it in a short amount of time and you have 2 timeouts to use the middle of the field. As far as the play calling goes Nick doesn't call plays I don't care what he says about "Oh I called that one"...No he didn't he's protecting people. Also Jalen has the ability to check at the line.
