Dumbarton Oaks Gardens

Dumbarton Oaks Gardens is located in the historic Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC. The gardens recently re-opened after being closed as a precaution during the COVID-19 pandemic. This 22 minute video explores the sixteen acres of terraced gardens and vistas, orchards and kitchen gardens. The Gardens, designed by renowned landscape gardener Beatrix Farrand, is an oasis within the city.

These gardens might be overlooked for a couple of reasons. First, there is an adminsion and D.C. residents are use to free Smithsonian gardens/Museum. Second, the gardens are only open from 3-5 pm about five days a week. A lot of the background I provided in the video voice over is not displayed in the garden itself.

Hi, The gardens are not free. If I remember, there is timed entry. Parts of the museum are free. Check the website for more information.
