1:26 I had a therapist who did something similar. He would ask me questions about my parents, but my mom sat in/would listen in to all of my therapy sessions so I never wanted to say anything bad about her because I knew she would lose her shit on me. The therapist didn't stop her from sitting in on these sessions, and I was too scared to tell the truth about the abuse. This therapist said that I would do better with a good mother figure in my life than with a non biological dad. My dad is my best friend in the whole world. He was there for me no matter what and still is to this day. My mom is an abusive, neglectful and manipulative person who constantly made me feel like I was in danger whenever she was in the room. Because of this stupid therapist I wasn't allowed to see my dad at all for almost a whole year. The most contact we got was one phone call a month. He would sometimes drop gifts off on my grandparent's doorstep for me and dash before I saw him so he technically wasn't breaking any rules, and although that was really sweet I missed seeing him in person. I get to see him a lot more often now that DCFS is out of my family's lives, but I'm never gonna get that time back due to a stupid therapist's personal beliefs and incompetence when it came to handling my case. Honestly unless there's abuse or neglect, or any other reason that one parent is unfit to take care of a child in the case, the child should be able to have a say in the arrangement that's made, and there should be more flexibility in these arrangements as the child gets older.

Went to child therapy for a different reason, but dude had parents listen in on part of it and part was without the parents (watching difference in behaviour with/without them?). Hope you got a better therapist or something, someone who will let you vent without letting your mother assault you, as kids with abusive parents (like you described) tend to feel the most pent-up anger.

Like why is it LEGAL to kill a healthy animal for no other reason than "they don't want it anymore?" It should just be taken in as a rescues or abandonment case. It should be ILLEGAL to kill an animal for no reason. It also shows how easily some humans would kill their kids just to hurt the other parent. If it were legal kids would die along with the animals. Also so many hurt the kids other ways just out of spite and refusal to believe they are better off away from them

It needs to become a law that, if you get a pet in a divorce, you can be put in jail if you have it killed afterward. In the chance you decide you don't want or cannot keep it, you should legally need to get an attorney/lawyer involved to contact the other party in the divorce and let them have first call on taking it before it can be given to another owner/shelter, etc. Such bullshit.

I have a question, how easy it is to get a pet put down in USA? It's absurd how someone can get a 3 year old dog put down?! Like, where I live (Brazil) I NEVER heard of someone putting a dog down without actual reason, most of times vets just won't do if there's no reason and would go as far as trying to get a new owner for the pet if the other one doesn't want them anymore. I can't understand how can someone be so cruel to simply end a pet's life just to hurt someone else...

One thing I remember my mother saying to me once(not a lawyer, but an accountant) was that a common reason for divorce if not the most common was financial. Not always petty to be sure, a lot of relationships fall apart because people have different virtues as far as money goes. You'll have the one who is frugal and doesn't like spending random money on material things, and you'll have the one who either is still playing out their forever 21 party fantasies in their mid 30s. Best way to avoid this is to sort out ahead of schedule where your aims are. Saving for a house? Paying off debts? Kids? Shit costs money, and if the other party isn't capable of basic budgeting you may wish to throw that one back into the sea.

Don't couples list (at their marriage) what they're each getting should they separate? Makes it easier to gauge what they expect from the relationship, and it breaks off money-grabbers. Also prevents petty occurrences. Stuff bought during their marriage might as well go to whoever uses it (bought it if mutual equipment).

I got a real bad divorce story from a friend. This was in the 50s, and she had just divorced her high school sweetheart husband of 30+ years (mutual split, they married young and wanted to see what else was out there, but still deeply loved each other and talked everyday). Wackjob saw her at a restaurant and started stalking her, 6 months later got her blackout drunk and forced her to sign marriage papers. Two years of absolute hell and abuse, she flipped the coin and did the same thing to him he had done to her, moron got taken for everything single thing he owned, was only left with the clothes he was wearing. Lost everything, including custody of his 4 kids (oldest was 11, youngest was 2 at the time she met them). none of their mothers were in the picture and when she left she swore she would take those kids so he wouldn't hurt them. Oldest said that the mothers would be there one minute then poof vanished off the face of the earth. no one ever saw them again. Dipshit ended up loosing everything and when he showed up the day after it was finalized to "talk" to her she had 8 of her big marine buddies there to back her, he left without a fight or a single word being spoken. she likes to say now that he was probably a serial killer as women went missing whenever he was around. I'm really hoping that's not the case.

But if you beat them, hurt them and back them into a corner, you are possibly signing a death certificate, like animals, men are stronger and more deadly than us females, fucking with their feelings doesn't feel like a wise decision. All it takes is pushing a person to their breaking point and they'll snap. It's really truly sick that there's nothing in place to protect them from completely senseless killing. However, I've been an amateur astronomer for more years than I care to admit to and know that the stars have nothing to do with our lives. Next year is 25 years married for us, and he's still a great guy, too.

My friend's wife has threatened him with divorce, if he were to buy a car from a certain brand (in case you're wondering, it's Holden, a now defunct brand which has been common in Australia and New Zealand for 50+ years). It remains to be seen as to whether she's actually serious. We can only wait and see.

I'll keep this short and simple. My parents hate my brother because they can't understand disabilities and my dad failed to raise him as his child. My parents hate each other because of mental illness, preconceived assumptions, differences and the fact narcissists can't live under the same roof. Both my parents adore me and compare everything I do to my brothers "fuck ups", I don't know why they like me as I moved out in a fury of rage at 16 and argued with them my entire life. I love my brother, he's had his moments and I can partially condone his violence at home. He's never been allowed to thrive or grow and his parents continously blame him for what they refuse to give and help him with. Kicker is my dad wants to give me his full inheritance and life insurance on the terms I give nothing to my other family, mother wants to do the same, hers states that absolutely nothing goes to my brother or my dad's estate if he outlives her. I've already set a private account under my name for my brother, he's getting 50% of everything when the time comes. I don't care if I have to fight for his right to have even a fraction of it, I'll give the rest to him in cash outside of court. I'm stuck in the middle where I yelled at for talking to my dad by my mom and vise versa, I'm not allowed to talk to the other party and it's strained our family. I can't talk to my grandfather or anyone on my dads side of the family because they tell him that I'm sharing stuff and my dad goes ballistic.

My mother helpped run a divorce group, mostly women with terrible ex husbands who wanted to hurt them anyway they can think of. One used his wife's mental health againist her and used the blog she had about and was her main source of revenue as proof. She was forced to shut it down so she had no income and going thorugh a divorece. One dragged the divorce on for months and then stalked the her waiting for to start seeing others to take pictures, because even though they were seperated it would still be considered cheating and would make it her fault. So many fucking up their kids through exposure to drugs, sex and another else they can find. One women when having an ex hurting their kids so badly told my mother, "This issue is he hates me more than he loves them."

8:51 The one with the transgender shepherd. I'm confused. The way I figure it, there's two possible scenarios here: 1) the person is ftm and OP is misgendering by constantly calling him "she" throughout the post or 2) the person is mtf, I guess with some degree of surgery because genitalia had something to do with proving the lack of paternal relation to the kids, but since she's only out to her family she still presents as male around everyone else The thing about the person being able to prove the kids aren't theirs just by having the judge look at their crotch, coupled with female pronouns, makes me uncertain which scenario is more plausible. Like the pronouns imply mtf, but if they're mtf why would the genitals prove anything? Even with surgery I don't think it would be accepted as legal proof, because as far as the court knows they could have had the kids beforehand.

This honestly scares me... I don't get how someone could go through with killing a dog out of spite. I remember being there with my dog when she was put down... It was one the most painful decisions I've ever had to make. And looking down at her I felt so guilty. Even though I knew it was her time. (She had chronic pain and lost her ability to walk from old age ) I cant imagine thinking of killing a healthy dog thats done nothing wrong just because of an ex. I imagine she just gave the dog to the vet and ran away. I'd be even more disgusted if she was in the room with the dog... and she watched and just let the vet kill the dog... either way she deserves everything horrible and rotten that comes her way.

Very early on, but the story about the therapist and deck of cards, and the kid wanting to live with both parents equally brought up memories. My parents HATE EACH OTHER. They were teen parents, tried marriage, my dad sucks, etc. They didn't even make it until I was 1 year old. When I turned 13, they sat me down and asked what I wanted. They'd been sharing custody most of the time, minus a few years with my dad getting me due to my mom moving out of state. And I wanted to keep that. Thinking back now, it was stupid and a week on and week off would've been way better than every other day. Then again, I love my parents but I really don't like them. So it wouldn't make a difference in our relationship. Just my school work and mental state

The problem i have with the case of the guy who shot his wife after accusing her of physical abuse is that it is implied that because cps and the courts were siding with the mom no abuse actually happened. But it kinda depends on when it happened, because until recently the courts almost always sided with the mother even in cases where clear abuse was happening from the mother so its kinda iffy to me

@@WobblesandBean i have tried every which way but most links from many sites on the subject get deleted... apparently statistical studies aren't allowed on KZbin anymore. Look up "tender years doctrine" and its relation to custody cases. Basically since the 19th century the courts operated under this doctrine saying that children are better off in the care of their mothers, with some areas such as florida reporting as high as a 90% rate of sole custody going to the mothers. Another study in the 1980's showed that approximately 80% of cases led to sole custody for the mothers. One in the 1990's showed 74%. In the modern day it is much lower, last i saw it was around 40% and most cases were shared custody

You don't go to a seafood restaurant when you don't like seafood to begin with, then go "man, if this is all the food there is I'm never eating again!" Not to mention relationships were easier back in the days when partners got married in their early twenties, and one of them was dead by thirty. Easier to love someone their whole life when their whole life isn't as long.

Family lawyer, husband and wife each lawyers, one seeking a divorce and the other seeking an annulment. Both contested every point and then the wife who wanted an annulment filed an Appeal against the divorce. The Appeal sought and was granted Leave to lead new evidence and took 3 days of hearing. A normal divorce would have cost $1,500.00 (not property or custody) and this one cost over $40,000.00. Then they started arguing about the property settlement, that cost over $300,000.00 in legal costs.
