Thank you for doing this. I also got a pair, they arrived 2 days ago. The packaging was deliberate and neat. I also appreciated the instruction manual. It took a very consistent 55 ah each to charge fully. So far so good. We will see how it goes.

Unfortunate battery name. Maybe they named it after experimenting with that adhesive. Crazy how cheap they are getting. I knew it was going to happen, but didn't expect prices to drop so fast.

If they sealed the battery before the solvent in the thermal paste had fully evaporated, then the air inside would be saturated with solvent, which would explain the smell, and it wouldn't dry for a very long time. However, even if still tacky, the paste should still work as long as they're not using it as a glue.
@LithiumSolar
@LithiumSolar 11 сағат бұрын
Interesting - makes sense! It definitely was not the battery that smelled, has to have been the glue but I wasn't going to sniff it that closely and find out. Don't know what chemicals are in it but it's strong-smelling for sure!

Build your own. Grade A Prismatics are $79 per 100Ah. 4S active balancers are $11. Modular. Upgradable. Expandable. Replaceable. Reliable Pure Sine 3kW inverters are 400. New panels are 50 cents a watt. Gets less expensive every month. Til the tariffs kick in...

The white stuff on the transistors and heatsink is probably some thermal paste. I bought a tube of white thermal paste way back around 1990 that had that consistency and took several years exposed to air to get thicker.

I bought two of them they are doing great actually put them in series with two other brands of batteries and they seem to do well in a 48 volt bank I have a victron shunt on them and have completed 4 discharges and recharges down to 40 percent pulling 600 watts from the bank continuously so I am very pleased planning on getting two more asap after watching this video I agree I don't think they will do 6000 cycles at 20% but they might at 40% thanks for the great video and try getting a affiliate link so you can make $ for doing this thanks again and keep up the great work

I love these teardown videos. I am hoping for someone to do a teardown of a Kepworth 300ah battery. They are on Amazon for $499.99 with a $100 coupon for a final price of $399.99. It looks a lot like the Watt Cycle 300ah battery. If built well, I would give it a try. Thanks for these videos.

For $99.95 that battery is a win. 🎉 I would buy this over the pouch cell minis. However how they will holdup over many cycles and time is anyone's guess. I would suggest giving that brand some time, say a year and buy another battery and see if the quality improves or degrades.

I think it will be the lower cycle life that gets you here. I need to try and obtain a datasheet for this exact cell so I can prove one way or the other. Great Power have been notoriously low-budget cells with a reduced cycle count.

@@JunitafluxcyfatriciaJunita They still make a profit, for sure. Part of the reason why they can sell cheaper than US companies is that products purchased from overseas companies selling on marketplace platforms are duty free. The current US de minimus rules allow consumers to import many products from overseas companies valued under $600 directly to US consumers for personal use, legally skirting duties and tariffs. This will change soon with new de minimus rules recently announced to be implemented in 2025.

I don't think so, it's semi-hardened and it's on other things like terminal bolts and the balance lead connector. It almost seems like some kind of 2-part formula that wasn't mixed right.
