Taking trash from a dumpster or dumpster diving in itself is not illegal. A United States Supreme Court ruling in 1988 (California vs. Greenwood) concluded that trash left outside a store is a part of the public domain. ... This means that other people like dumpster divers are free to take it.....Even if your city allows dumpster diving, there are additional actions that stores and law enforcement can take to discourage it. Littering: It’s best to keep a dumpster looking cleaner than you left it. Not only is this common courtesy, but it’s the law. Leaving behind a garbage mess is one of the fastest and easiest ways for you to overstay your visit and land yourself in hot water. Disorderly Conduct: As always, be polite and respectful of others around you. Causing a ruckus is never a good thing while dumpster diving. Don’t block sidewalks or alleys with your car. If you’re asked to leave by a store employee, manager, or anyone for that matter, kindly obey their orders. It’s not worth getting into a verbal confrontation and having the police show up when there are plenty of other dumpsters to dive at. Trespassing: Most dumpsters are fair game. However, if you see a dumpster inside a fenced enclosure with a “No Trespassing” sign or a dumpster leaning against the side of a building, immediately leave and find another one. Those garbage bins are not a part of the public domain meaning that you can be charged for trespassing. You only want to go for public dumpsters.

Mike back in the 90s i used to work weekends at a local dump and there was a man who used to strip the concrete blocks out of the washing machines. after a few months he turned up with some cash and photos he had taken of the low wall about 8 foot long and 2 foot high he had made out of washing machine concrete. to be honest it looked quite good with all the different shapes and all.

Those Dopak jars with the caps and septa are used for industrial, enclosed samplers. A needle pierces the septa and deposits the sample into the jar. Mostly used for sampling hazardous chemicals.

Today was my lucky dumpster-diving day. Found a fixable 1950's record player, an Atari 256 console, a bunch of vintages PC games from 1990-2000, plus a whole supply of unused spare cables, chargers, light bulbs and computer parts. My workshop is fully stocked and I haven't paid a dime! Where there are dumpsters, there is treasure!

Funny to me that I will never forget the day I discovered when I clamped the end of the wire in that conduit in a vice and walked while pulling the aluminum casing that it slid out slick as shit. It was a bit smaller of a roll but I walked n walked, I was proud !! after thinking it would be so hard to twist all that aluminum off with cutters.

Go for office chairs and find a consignment store to sell, good clean profit, usually About a 60.. 40 split. Or good for flea mkts. Networking works= $$$$$$. Go Mike

You found the septum seals 8:55 for the glass jars that came in the white boxes. The discs should be Teflon and silicon rubber which goes inside the aluminum crimping ring to hold it tightly to the bottle, Teflon side down. To actually seal the bottles you will need the correct crimping tool, not cheap last time I bought one. The tool will need to be sized for the diameter of the crimping rings used for the bottles...or you can just use corks. 🙂 Great finds, would loved to have beat you to the metal find in the first dumpster. Alas, my wife frowns harshly when I make a discovery of great worth and deign to bring it home. ☹️

@@1962mrmongoman the bottles with associated seals are typically used for pharmaceutical and laboratory products. They come in a variety of sizes. In our particular application they were used to contain a chemical used for mounting microscopic samples. We used them because they prevented evaporation, were spill proof and at the time could be transported on passenger planes.

you also could measure that wire in the aluminum and sell it on facebook market place for higher then scrap value as that stuff isn't cheap when you buy it at the lowes or home depot.

I hereby declare to be the king of scraping one time I found old furniture that had brass all around the edges and solid brass balls four inches across a total of 93 lbs of brass had to make two trips because I had to go get a wrench to tare down the furniture and carried it all in my backpack on my bike... not one word of a lie ..scrap guy said it all..... you got the mother load .... This one other time in my own building found 1000$ Worth of silver Cutlery ...forks and spoons and knifes ..the only thing that wasn't silver was the cutting blade itself the handle was silver....my old man was like (that was worth 1000$!! ) and I was like ( I told you so)..... This other time was so crazy I'm not going to say what I found but let's just say I will never ever ever ever ever forget.... let's just say some people just don't know what they got ...but when I find it all I see is$$$$$$$$😁$$$$$$$$$
