I use to dumpster dive at the local university when the students moved out. I worked a job but was thankful for all the things I found on those dives. Everything from art supplies to video game systems. You would be amazed. But the students knew because it was folded and almost packaged up knowing someone would come and find it. I found designer sunglasses and a note that said, I ran out of space, going to Japan, have fun.

I had a dumpster dive fit for a couple of months with my family.... it was a lot of fun, exciting and we had family time... we didnt do residential stuff, only businesses.... one day we went through a chain phone retailers dumpster and found phones, cases, computers, chargers and about 300 envelops with around $500 in cash.... You just never know what gets thrown away!

I used to work in a thrift store and the manager would always put the price of items expensive and then he would take some himself. So tbh thrift store is not my recommendations well at least the one I knew. They would also find gold and money in purses and they would take all that with them. Everything that is brand if they don't take it they put high prices.

Nowadays everybody is selling on EBay and other online sites. So the donations are picked through by the staff and they take what they want (I.e. All of the decent stuff) and they put the rest of the dirty, stained, and disrepaired clothing out for paying customers. If they don't have employees taking what they want, they have vultures who come in with no intentions of using the things they buy. They go through the store buying up everything and then they change the prices on them to 10 times what they paid and sell them online. Poor folks can't even get decent clothes anymore without people coming from the suburbs and snatching everything up and selling it.

I work at a Humane Society and we LOVE it when people bring plushie toys in for the dogs to play with/cuddle. Please if anyone reads this, and knows of places that have spare/old plushies, we love receiving these. Often, we give the new owners their new dogs favourite one to take with them when they are going to their forever home ❤️

Sweetie, nothing to forgive. It was amazing to see someone actually care. Last year I spun out on black ice on an exit ramp coming off I-80. Ended up with my back end about 2 feet from a ravine and not one person stopped to see if I was okay. I thank God I was in a Jeep and had 4wheel drive. Once I got out of there I pulled into the first parking lot and cried for 10-20 minutes, then drove the last hour home. People are self-involved and self-entitled for the most part anymore.

I live in the heart of a college town and used to dumpster dive often with a friend. Whenever someone would graduate (quiet often) they would throw or give away pretty much everything in their home. I assume they are from out of state and headed back to their home town. Got some really really good, quality, and clean items. Check college towns around the times of graduation! Samantha Edwards I worked in the waste industry for 7 years for Waste Management, I’ve never known the hoppers to open lids on trash containers just to check and see if the trash was bagged “inside “of the can. When the trash is dumped , it’s all going to be smashed and bags will be ripped and torn anyway by the blades . 😒. Most companies have the automatic arms anyway that grabs the containers and dump . Let this lady live. If dumpster diving instead of knitting is her hobby ...that’s her choice .

People blow their horn because they're far more important than you or anyone else... I'm not a religious person, but I am sickened by the greed and selfish way people are turning our world. I just ticked off my nephew for being greedy, rude and selfish, but also lazy. He actually emailed me the information of the bike I'm supposed to buy him for Christmas. Even pointing out that if money is tight, they do finance packages! Cheeky lil 💩 So I went to the store and facetimed with him, asked if it was the correct one. It was and he demanded they deliver it this weekend! So I walked out, showed him a pile of Amazon gift cards. Then I told him I could be putting them inside kids books at the library. But I kinda never told him which library, I included a note with each saying to let the lil one choose their favourite book from Amazon with love from a "festive bookworm" My nephew will get a real, actual piece of coal... I know kids get excited n all, but he's old enough to know you do not speak to people like that. He has new friends he's being hanging out with, and these kids get everything they demand, as long as they go away from the parents for a few hours. I know my nephew knows better than that. Sadly kids like those grow into the kind of "adults" who blow their horn because your accident inconveniences them slightly.

Same here in Germany. When I was a child we played outside all of the time. The playgrounds were full of children, children would ride their bikes in the streets, playing in yards and in front of houses, going to the public swimming pools in summer. Now the playgrounds are totally abandoned. I see many which are overgrown with weeds, because no one ever comes to play, and also the public swimming pools are empty, hardly anyone goes there. They all sit inside, just staring at their smart phones and tablets and the parents do the same. Sad world, indeed.

Cuke61 55 - not everyone does for their personal keeping. Be surprised a lot of DD have thrift stores therefore they making a profit off everything they find for free. Not all but large percent of those that do dive have money and make good money. I’ve never done it but watch a lot of shows on it and know a person who does and he’s one of those that owns a few different businesses including thrift stores and lots at flea market he dives cause he enjoys it and has found things that he found/got for free and sold for thousands of dollars. Biggest one I know about was a drawing/picture small 4 x 8 or something like that and it sold for a little under 50k. I’m sure he didn’t see that cash as disgusting and sure he felt diving in that garbage for a whole 10mins was well worth the filth disgust or bruise to ego u may see it as... IJS
