I'm surprised more places don't donate their products. I worked at Walmart and they donated food and other items to the food shelf all the time. The company got a tax write off for the donations.

A fact I learned while in retail. Companies will receive more from discarded food, clothing, literally everything rather than donations. It's a write off to say it was damaged or expired. Noone is gonna check. It's a sad fact that the almighty dollar is more important than hungry humans in need.

@Stephan Schlösser I do understand and I agree but nevertheless it is a sad fact that the stores markup each item at least 100% from their costs and if an item is donated the stores only get a small fraction of that percentage back. However if they discard the item they can say it was damaged or expired and they receive more for it. I am so grateful for the dumpster divers; especially those who do donate to others in need. Waste in the United States is astronomical and should be regulated closer.

Holly cow. Cathy.that was a massive score you got in this video. I was a poor kid and we ate food from the dumpster. Of coarse it was edible like what you grab. We got all sorts of stuff. The bakery found me in his dumpster I told him and he from then on would bring stuff to us. Somehow the grocery store found out too and they started bringing food to us instead of tossing it out. Mom even got enough seeds to plant a huge vegetable garden. We all pitched in. There was 7 kids mom and my grandpa. Dad was always away at work. It was such a blessing to us all. At Christmas the firemen brought us a humungus food hamper with gifts for each of us. We are so thankful to all of them. Without their help we might have died. So thanks for all you do Cathy. Your an Angel.

I live in the country and the government is paying for crops not to be planted. I saw one farmer breaking ground. Believe me when I say this the price of food is going way up. Crazy the police or store employees will try to stop someone from taking stuff when they know there are hungry ppl out there grateful for that food. Dumpster diving should be encouraged.
